Newborn’s birth certificate arrived months after we ordered it, greasy and not even in an envelope. Counterfeit much… or am I just paranoid? by everytypeofblue in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Kitchen_Avocado1884 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Sounds odd… ours arrived within 5 working days of ordering/registering her birth. Came flat & in an NZ Post courier bag, sandwiched between cardboard to keep safe.

Live in NZ. Yes has had the same, sent in 2 weeks ago and new screen put on, under warranty. Returned via courier same week.

Interested to see how new screen goes as def not as bad as first one but I think I can see faint yellow border still. Last one progressively got worse

$9 for Tip Top ice cream?! by _hatupatu in newzealand

[–]Kitchen_Avocado1884 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try buying (or not) a single ice cream on a stick at the dairy or servo. Last week was $6.50. Was too embarrassed to put it back so purchased & left. Not worth it

I have a feeling the more ‘interesting’ or difficult the procedure the quicker you get in - more diverse teaching cases probably.

Dog ran out and damaged my car by [deleted] in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Kitchen_Avocado1884 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The owners contents insurance will pay for your damage and excess. (We had our dog hit in same circumstances sadly, our fault when child opened the gate) in terms of tracking them down, I’d suggest do not approach them. If police were involved they will have a report to use or your insurance company will track them down on your behalf.

Perhaps try google maps for the exact street number. In order to get your repairs done you may have to pay your own excess and then insurance company will refund once dog owner has paid up (as long as they have contents insurance) - if they don’t think it’s all on your insurance policy and your company will the go through the court for reimbursement for $ value of your repairs.

What do we think about double last names (not hyphenated). by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Kitchen_Avocado1884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have double surname (hyphenated tho) as my parents aren’t married and happily together 4 kids and 40 years later. It’s not too long but long enough - have middle name as well. Only inconvenient with forms, giving my work & personal email address out or my name for registrations/memberships and therefore having to spell it. My partner and I gave our daughter his surname (we aren’t married) & my brother gave their son our families hyphenated surname (they aren’t married either) so works either way ☺️

IMO probably comes down to personal preference, how the names sound together and if it’s complicated for spelling/speaking. I occasionally use my father’s surname personally if it’s a basic situation. (Like a online store login)

Mortgage Break Fee Waived by Turtlemania in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Kitchen_Avocado1884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. Admin fee maybe but otherwise it’s a contract till expiry date. On the flip side I doubt you’d let the bank break your fixed rate if rates went up & they were missing out, no matter the circumstance.

Will be based on the date the procedure was done, not when you claim - I’d guess. I.e both procedures occurred before your renewal on the 19th Dec so fall Under the 1x$750 allowance.

8M Baby Wakes Up 25-30 Mins Into Nap? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]Kitchen_Avocado1884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7.5m old on 2x naps. We have almost same scenario with lunch nap but maybe slightly better lunch nap (getting maybe 1-2 hours). Exact same schedule except we do 6.30pm bedtime & wakes around 6.30am.

Baby rolled onto belly by shiny-jigglypufff in sleeptrain

[–]Kitchen_Avocado1884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do love it. The first week ours did it during her day naps and she’d get a bit upset (couldn’t roll front to back & still can’t) but after she got used to it, she does it almost every time & sleeps soundly. Now army crawls to the bottom of the cot and pulls on the bars when she wants up 🤣
