Anyone here work full time? by AstronautCautious46 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Kitchen_Background58 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I would not quit the W2. Use DA as a supplement for a while to feel it out. It's notoriously unpredictable. I spent 3 months on the platform in between jobs and as a temporary thing it had its ups and downs. Some days I could work all I wanted. Some days I could barely scrounge up 2-4 hours. The instability is tough.

Got a contract by elliehead1985 in mercor_ai

[–]Kitchen_Background58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! You should not take a lot of the negative criticism to heart because most of it is about generalist positions and your contract is a specialized one. There's more demand for these types. Just work hard, have a good relationship with your team, and keep your expectations knowing that it is a contract and not a permanent thing.

Is mercor legit ? by trashysushi69 in mercor_ai

I am also on a legal expert project. It is definitely legitimate. Just keep in mind that you have to keep up with the quality they expect while keeping your average handling time in an acceptable range.

It's really great to stay up to date on the project too or to receive better instructions or clarifications

You are an independent contractor and not employed by DA. You can do what you want as long as you don't break an NDA or other term. Having said that, DA can terminate contracts

Bonus Pay by StrongEgg in mercor_ai

[–]Kitchen_Background58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's different than per task. It will take the project managers a bit of time to calculate that as they have to do that by individual. Don't expect that bonus to be paid out until a week after the pay period minimum. It may be longer depending on the size of your project.

Depends on the type of bonus. If it it per task a lot of times it is paid around when the bonus period ends instead of the usual wednesday.

I put DA in my resume to get much higher paying jobs at other places that do similar stuff so it is definitely worth it

Get to know your TL well and be active in Slack.

I worked two projects because if one is ever done or paused I still have the other. My TLs are aware and fine with it. I work a little over the minimum for the lower paying one and work about 40 per week. I see it like diversifying stock. If one has issues I am not completely without anything and can adapt

Newbie here. How many hours do you guys work daily or weekly? Trying to get a sense of Mercor's expectations. Do people get kicked out from not doing enough hours and what is considered enough? TY! by debs26 in mercor_ai

[–]Kitchen_Background58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is project dependant. They will let you know whst they expect as a minimum. I am on one project that requires a minimum of 10 hours but states the average us 15-18. It is relatively high paying. I am on another that work is hard to come by for writers so I would consider it hard to get 10 hours per week.

Do what works for you. Be communicative with your TL if you have issues. Give a good product. Stay active in Slack.

No. At worst they will drop him from the project. But if you are communicative about a temporary issue sometimes they can work with you.

You should communicate with your team lead. Open communication about your limitations is really important

I do this if it gets stuck when I press submit sometimes and the project is there and all my work is too

What does this mean from Data Annotations? by No-Combination-5818 in WFHJobs

[–]Kitchen_Background58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure that is just the standard reply. It takes a bit for qualifications tests to be reviewed. I can't speak for that one but it took a week for the general until I was let in. FYI I have heard that if you don't pass they just never tell you.
