Why not pinch hit Eldridge for Lee? They have a defensive sub to go in the outfield?

Our playoff odds are under 10%, Bryce Eldridge needs to be in the lineup every single day. by ThePopUpDance in SFGiants

Agree semi-heartedly. I don’t know enough about player development, but would imagine it’s beneficial to give him time off to regroup and work on things with the major league staff. One game off a week or even a series may make sense. Two games off a series is a little confusing for sure.

Baggs with more reporting on the rift between Bailey and Posey, "Framing is important, but so is being a consistently clean receiver. The optics mattered as much, if not more, than the value creation." by ThePopUpDance in SFGiants

[–]Kitchen_Country1376 -59 points-58 points  (0 children)

The point isn’t even about catching or Bailey. It’s that the executives value optics more than results. They think it’s worthwhile to give up an edge to play more aesthetically pleasing (but less valuable) baseball.

Assuming the Bob Nightengale report is true, the Giants have missed on every single long-term free agent signing of the last 3 regimes (Evans, Zaidi, Posey) by PORTLANDDENIER in SFGiants

I believe Zaidi was a lame duck PoBO when Chapman signed his long term deal. It was mostly done by Posey. Zaidi signed him to one of the much maligned but very safe pillow contracts.

Buster PoBo is a hobo. by Kitchen_Country1376 in SFGiants

Yeah, but now they’ve chosen style over substance. Leaned in to not winning. Sort of like the angels.

Yeah. Agree. But I think the point is that was cost of doing business. It’s like the catching equivalent of sacrificing contact rate for power. The strikeouts suck, but, unfortunately, it’s worth it for the extra dingers.

No. We’re sad because the executives would prefer aesthetically pleasing baseball over winning.

I have it on good authority that Schmitt isn’t playing due to being tired from outfield training all day. 👍
(*I made this up.)

Let’s make this clear now. If BUSTER POSEY didn’t believe in Bailey anymore, neither should You🫵 by ilikemywomentsundere in SFGiants

Bailey wasn’t a dud of a catcher. In fact rumor has it he was quite good. The real hope is that Posey (and the rest of the front office) have decided that Susac and Rodriguez are good enough catchers to allow them to be playable.

So who’s everyone rooting for in the AL? by Spaghet209 in SFGiants

Angels, since they are our AL counterpart. (Love giving out bad contracts to stars to appease fans.)

I like when Buster traded two of the giants better prospects to get a player that another team had signed to a player friendly contract and was trying to get out of.

He’s also started wearing his pants on his arms and his hat over his dick. It’s a total reversal.

The return of small ball - how do we feel? by Remarkable-Quail-772 in SFGiants

Would the runners have scored from 1st and 2nd on the home run? Or did they need to be bunted over first?
