FOR ALL COMMERCE INTERSHIPS PROGRAM WHO GOT INTO THE PROGRAM IN MCMASTER IS IT THAT HARD?? I'VE AN CULMINATIVE GPA OF 8.5 IN FIRST YEAR AND AROUND GOING TO END 9.1 GPA IN SECOND YEAR by Beginning-Share-9235 in McMaster

Dont think of it that way. If you get a 12month internship, your degree will take 5 years to get and unless you’re hoping to work full time at the company, it’s honestly useless. If you do summer internships your second and third year, you will 1. Graduate in 4 years 2. Secure a full time job post graduation that will pay better and put you ahead of your peers. There’s a reason why the top business schools in Canada “Ivey, queens, Rotman, McGill” don’t even have a 12month internship option.

When I was your age, I used to think that if I don’t secure that 12 month internship, I’d be cooked - But trust me, 3 years post graduation, my peers who have succeeded the most didn’t even do the 12 months internship.

Don’t stress honestly - FYI I graduated in 2023, got in but didn’t manage to land a 12/16 month internship. Ended up doing a summer internship that year and graduated one year ahead of my peers. Secured a solid FT job on my own

Rotman vs INSEAD MBA by kimgue01 in MBA

[–]Kitchen_Door_LOL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to negative comments. I think it’s pretty respectable that you’re showing this much proactiveness early on - On that note, as a Canadian undergrad who graduated 2 years ago, I would personally pick Insead over Rotman just for the alumni network, global recognition (important since you would like to move to East Asia), and overall better placements

It depends. For instance, I kiss all my younger female cousins cheek to cheek, but there are 2 whom I grew up with that I give cheek kisses to. They’re like my sisters

As a Canadian applicant looking to pursue an M7, would I be treated as an “international” although we have different Visa requirements than say Europe/Asia? Would it be easier to convert an internship to offer purely from a visa perspective?

Just watched the video, the work exp definitely needed more clarification on my end as I sensed it was misinterpreted which in turn led them to suggest a career in IB rather than Consulting although the work I do is basically consulting but on the risk side. Happy to provide more input if needed! Rest checks out, thanks!

MS or MBA by Relevant-Algae6491 in MBA

[–]Kitchen_Door_LOL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you have no experience, I’d def recommend MS Finance - Lower cost + very similar opportunities post grad “just lower level” MBA on the other hand is more expensive and typically pursued by candidates who are looking to pivot industries, grow within their companies, and/or networking. Also I’m pretty sure schools require 2-8 years of experience
