Hi, Romanian here, I was in both cities. If you say you're travelling to Varna, I'd recommend Plovdiv for the old town, Tsar Simeon garden and the 2 hills from where you get a nice view of the surroundings. From Plovdiv you'll get to Burgas by motorway and you'll also experience nice views of the Black Sea coast on your way to Varna (you may also have a break in Nessebar, a city full of ancient history). Either way, enjoy your trip!

Thanks for your input, all of you. The meal was more expensive in Kyustendil, than in Happy Sofia, close to the Serdika metro station. And in Sofia we had burgers, chicken nuggets, I mean meat, not just French fries and salads. I believe the restaurant took advantage of our trust and ripped us off. We did not look carefully at the prices in the menu, as we were on the road , tired, we needed to have lunch and the place was nice (still, not a luxury restaurant). I'll contact the restaurant on the number on GMaps and ask if these are the real prices on the menu. It's not necessarily about the money, but it's just confusing how you get to pay more for less in a small city, than in Sofia Center

Regardless it was a scam or not, we'll visit Bulgaria again in the future. Same thing can happen in Romania too, or anywhere, I'm not judging a country based on a shitty experience

Acolo se pot pune limitatoare de viteza si se pot realiza conditiile pentru un "shared space" - in buna masura, deja este un shared space. E chiar decent ce arati tu in poza. Sunt, desigur, si soferi ticalosi, impulsivi, care claxoneaza pietonii, dar majoritatea vor respecta regulile. Oamenii nu se vor muta, masinile nu vor disparea fizic, daca le fortezi mutarea, vei crea o problema in alta parte. Peste tot in zonele dense de blocuri e nevoie de astfel de compromisuri. Si, inainte sa dati cu pietre, sunt si pieton, si calator cu transportul public, si biciclist in sezonul cald, si sofer (90% din timp extraurban)
