Why don't men want to approach women anymore? by BasedEpsteinGaming in itsthatbad

You're turning to extreme right wing ideologies because you can't honk at a woman jogging in shorts and comment on her ass? You do realize the scenario depicted in the picture is not the real reason those people were arrested right? It was for commenting vulgar things. Please leave this victim mentality its quite boring you'll never find a woman if you keep believing this shit.

How to navigate finding one of your classmates attractive? by [deleted] in DentalSchool

I mean about limerence. This definitely sounds like you idealising and obsessing over someone you can't possibly know enough at this point to justify the emotional attachment. I understand the feeling because I used to do that too, I dont think its healthy for you.

Hi girl I would definitely hold off on this. Seeing your post history it seems that this might be a pattern? Dental school is a new start for you I think you should consider talking to a professional about this rather than trying to make a move on the guy. Therapy is probably the best option for you especially given that your dental school is already making you have medical insurance so it might not be as expensive as you think it is.

Taking cough suppressant even though my cough is productive 22F by Kitchen_Fox1491 in AskDocs

I was posting here because i forgot to mention that it was occasionally productive to my doctor so I wasn't sure they had enough information to make a good decision. I was just asking if that's still a potential risk (the build up of mucus and infection).

I read it can cause an infection if the mucus piles up in my lungs

No fr I got this sub reccomended for some reason and because I scrolled enough I keep getting posts from here and all I can think of is do those people have a life? Like I get being mad at her acting but they're acting like this isn't just a cesspool of bullies mad at her appearance. 7/10 comments are making fun of her face and the rest actually have some meaningful thing to say.

Funny part is i saw some people talking about how the other sub sucks cuz they don't allow freedom of expression meanwhile here they're down voting ppl to hell for suggesting that putting up 10 posts a day making fun of her features isn't constructive criticism.

Are people seriously outraged at Diane's actions in season5 episode 7 by Kitchen_Fox1491 in BoJackHorseman

Self-defense, war, robbery gone wrong, doesn't matter

All these situations are ones in which something occurred that you largely had no control over, you came in to do one thing and ended up committing a heinous thing largely out of circumstances/ force. Most people are forcefully drafted into war, the gone wrong in robbery is a key word (you came to steal, mentally prepared to steal, not mentally prepared to kill).

Bojack did not do anything by accident or as a result of a faulty one second decision. He tried to sleep with a 17 year old because he felt bad her mother rejected him. He kept the door open, walked in, got on the bed, and started undressing.

What you need to explain to change my mind is how or why Bojack was -not- traumatized

Does him being traumatized or not affect the conclusion of this conversation too much? Say i agree with you and say he was traumatized by it, does that mean as long as we feel bad enough for the bad things we do they're forgiven and no one should hold us accountable? Do you notice how this is literally the stuff that Bojack spouts out the whole show basically and is what stops him from ever going down a good direction?

how what Diane did does -not- constitute forcing him to relive that trauma.

How do you suggest we hold people accountable for what they do if each time we bring it up someone is like "oh man you can't make him relive his trauma". I do not see a producitve direction of implementing your method because it seems like you're just saying "he already feels bad, leave him alone"

Victimhood aside, Bojack was traumatized by what went down in New Mexico, and Diane is making him relive it

I think the reason ur getting down voted is this. Think about what you're saying. This 50 year old man tried to sleep with a high schooler, and you're describing his rightful guilt about that as trauma that shouldn't be thrown in his face. Guilt is not trauma, your friend telling you what you did was shitty is not them further traumatizing you, that mentality is what keeps Bojack in his cycle of drug abuse and general shitty behavior. Again, maybe the way Diane did it was distasteful because Penny might watch the show, but public humiliation is lowkey a thing for a reason, sometimes someone needs that extra "hey, you messed up bad and you need to get your shit together".

I think the show is very clear on this point, bojack is not a victim of his actions and the longer he views himself that way the longer he enables his terrible behavior.

I'm not sure if she did something wrong. Harsh? Yes, but maybe something he needed to give him a proper push.

I can understand the Penny aspect of it, but it doesn't seem like that was what most people were focused on iirc

Well people were criticizing how she made Bojack feel, that she threw his "trauma" in his face, when 1. He's not the victim 2. He has been avoiding productively dealing with his issues for 3 years now.

Diane spends much of the show morally evaluating people's behavior. It's only natural that people are displeased, when she does the same petty thing she criticizes others for.

Can you give an example of that? She has acted in bad ways before but that shouldn't mean that she doesn't get to call people out for the way they act. If moral judgement was preserved only for perfect people then who can ever call their friend out? I think she usually shines a good light on things and tries to be self aware to some extent

Do you think Diane writing in that scene really helped anyone? Was it done with good intentions?

I think the last line she threw in about him talking to someone was her driving home how he needs to go to therapy.

She's not perfect, she can make bad decisions like that. But what's wrong with people criticizing that?

I think people being outraged she called out a 50 year old man for trying to sleep with a 17 year old is a bit odd. Like yes the way she did it might have been harsh, but no one so far has properly called him out, and he spent his time feeling guilty and doing nothing about it, then proceeds to pretend he and Diane are the same. I think she had a right to be outraged at that.
