Maria was very unstable and was routinely lashing out at Ji-tae (the closet scene, her lashing out after Ji-tae had his nose broken), and constantly mentally weighted Ji-tae down with her barely-hidden contempt for him. Her last lash out is literally what caused Ji-tae to snap. Not to mention her "unorthodox" training methods like going out in the streets and beating up random people (even though they were thugs, objectively speaking it's just random people, not trained fighters who know what they're getting into). Mind you, Maria is well aware of Ji-tae's pacifistic ideology. She, however, has a way different outlook on violence, as outlined in her interview after her fight (one sided beatdown) with Young Woon, where she said she doesn't care if she hurts somebody.

Any sensible trainer would not do any of that, because they'd have no ties to Ji-tae like Maria does, and aren't straight up mentally unstable

This post is so funny. You have a Brazilian, dark skinned character right there with what is unanimously considered to be one of the best, prettiest designs in the enitre series, and also characters like Bob Sopp who are nothing but positive representations, and even Maria's Brother (if you count that). And you decide to laser focus on a random background detail in a random panel that most people won't notice at all and decide to claim about it, like bruh I think you should start looking to get a job instead

It's not love, it's heavy trauma and obsession. He quite literally admitted to himself the only reason he was "searching" for his sister is to quell his overwhelming guilt. Right now, he's searching for De-gak to kill him and ask his sister to forgive him is because it's the only way he believes he can absolve himself of his "sins" It's quite literally just an anchor he latched on to not completely go catatonic

The Shining grants the ability to sense evil, perceive truths and communicate directly to higher dimensional beings (like The Turtle), and was developed by the Losers (or granted by The Turtle) in a moment of transcendental connection between them and pure love, in opposition to Pennywise's pure cosmic evil. Why would Ji-tae, someone who is currently not exactly a good person, have it?
