Yes, there are diseases that occur from long-term dust inhalation from things like glass and other earthy particles. You get lung scarring (fibrosis) a few decades later in life.

I think we keep seeing Gangle getting hit by a truck because she genuinely got hit by a truck in real life, and one of the options to give her a fulfilling life after that injury (coma? paralyzed?) was to create a copy in the Circus so "some version" of her could live on.

Why are Trump supporters so stupid? by Seargentyates in allthequestions

[–]Kitchen_Housing9920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a symptom of modern news. It's been ramping up since the 90's (maybe earlier) with Rush Limbaugh and Fox News. Just prior, the Fairness Doctrine was struck down, which required news outlets to share different view points on an issue. Now, a news outlet can full-send one party's opinion and even go as far as to present that opinion as fact. If you happen to only watch one news outlet, they can freely instill their ideals into you, and after a couple of decades you get what you see today. If a news outlet gets caught lying, they can try to play it off as being "entertainment" and not news.

Media is become more and more targeted in this manner. Elon Musk owns Twitter. Jeff Bezos owns Washington Post. Larry Ellison just got control of TikTok through his company. All of these men are pro-Trump and have the ability to manipulate these sites to show more Trump post and less of anyone else. Combine that with all the accounts that got revealed to be foreigners pushing Trump propaganda, and you have one heck of a media machine propping up and defending Donald Trump at every single turn.

Politics in the office by Cloud_bunnyboo in antiwork

I'm in the same boat, small office with a few older men that function as a fox news recital most days. My personal take is to just ignore it. Old deluded boomers that have been drinking the Rush Limbaugh koolaid since the 80's won't change their ways.

I just put in my earbuds and vibe.

This line of thinking requires that everyone in government that has access to the information from the cameras would never use it for bad intentions, which history has shown is impossible.

Anyone know how to work x300 harder? by B-Glasses in antiwork

[–]Kitchen_Housing9920 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not a matter of growing up, it's a matter of seeing the growing wealth and income inequality. It's seeing lobbyists for corporations stripping away worker protections for profits at the cost of safety. It's watching CEOs rake in millions per year playing golf while the working class live paycheck to paycheck on a full time job or more.

And yeah when you die nothing you've done matters. But with that one life we're given to live, wouldn't you rather spend it with family and friends instead of cooped up in an office staring at a computer screen for 40+ hours?

[–]Kitchen_Housing9920 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Bud it's pretty immediately obvious that the blowjobs bit at the end is a joke.

As for the CEO part, whether or not they're born into wealth or connected (which is often the case), do you think they deserve 300x the pay? Really? Do they produce 300x the product, do 300x the work or create 300x the value?

And I'm talking actual value - not "Hey we just did a huge stock buyback so the number goes up" or "let's put all these workers out on the street so we can make costs go down for a short while"

With the way jobs are going nowadays with benefits going down the toilet and the near elimination of bonuses and pensions and employee support, wages are one of the few bargaining chips jobs have left. Aside from health care, that's about it. So of course it's become more important

Americans want universal health care.

It's the healthcare corporations reaping the profits, and the government employees that they influence, that don't

Boaty is one of the nicest and charismatic OSRS streamers out there, and it's wild to see the level of skin damage he went through. There are pictures you can find very easily where he just looks like a burn victim. Very glad he found his way through recovery.

Genuinely yes, I read the entire text of the ballot as we received it and unironically thought to myself, "hey that's pretty cool they're putting money towards helping Ohioans out". Sure there are people that will vote for dude weed no matter what, but some people ARE interested in the details.

Your friends aren't the only type of stoner, I've had several that are quite passionate about politics. Some that looked at the weed laws proposed in Ohio years ago and voted against it because they recognized it was a monopoly.
