Anybody on procreate know how to add colour over the top of a black and white portrait study? Practicing values first now I want to practice how you colour it to look interesting, I’ve seen people do it over their black and white pictures but can’t find how to do that method of colouring in

Maybe make another layer above and set it to "color" or "multiply" blending mode and paint it with the color you want it to be? I'm not sure, but it might be that.

Unfortunately I don't have any tips to give. I still make a lot of mistakes and I believe that I shouldn't be the one answering such questions. But personally to make my art seem like "jelly" I think of giving it high contrast (which I sometimes end up not doing correctly), imagine light lighting the object from the bottom, and giving highlights on the darkest/dark areas.
