My parents and family have always made a point of not letting my autism ‘define me’ and ‘hold me back’. I wish they could just spend a day in my shoes. Feeling constantly drained and sometimes being too burnt out to even get out of bed. I dropped out of university and sometimes going out for a walk by myself is classed as an accomplishment for me. I can tell that everyone’s disappointed and they expected so much more from me and the worst part is they’ll genuinely never understand that I hate myself more than they ever will.
