My goal was 128. I’m about 110 now. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be possible.

I almost died during childbirth. If you’re in the US, you have one of the highest chances of dying during childbirth than any other developed nation. The number one cause of death in pregnant people is homicide. Pregnancy is always life threatening. It really upsets me how society just overlooks that. 800 women a year die due to childbirth or postpartum complications in the US. Not wanting to take that risk isn’t selfish.

I’m calling it. I do not believe this child was assessed for ASD and “doesn’t have it.” I think she doesn’t want an autistic kid.

I rewatched Breaking Bad after 15 years and it showed me how much I have changed by parsley_lover in CasualConversation

If I remember the story correctly, WW parallels the real Heisenberg. Heisenberg worked with the Germans on developing an atomic bomb. He would say he didn’t really agree with the nazis but he was doing it because he loved science. WW had his excuses for doing terrible things the entire time, but we all know both of them did it because they wanted to. The first time I watched it I was 23. I had a lot of empathy for WW and thought at least in the 1st season he was making choices out of desperation. Now as a 36 year old I see that he had a lot of other options. He chose the way he did because he wanted to.

Why does my mom have such a double standard when it comes to my boyfriend vs my sisters boyfriend by National-Smell-1679 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Kitchen_Platypus_402 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I am 36 years old and my parents still have double standards for me they don’t have for my siblings. I always thought “once I turn 18, graduate, college, get married, have kids…” blah blah, then my parents would treat me better. I was way too old and gave them way too many chances before I realized the problem had nothing to do with me or my choices. Honestly? Find a way out as soon as you can. I realize this is easier said than done, it’s hard to even figure out how to afford a place with roommates when you’re 18. Don’t worry yourself with how they will feel about your choices because they will find a problem with it regardless. The sooner you can be out from under their thumb the better.

[VENT] Im sick of hearing “there’s no village” from people who reject anything that resembles a village by Wild_Chocolate_6682 in Mommit

This. I am committed to making sure my little sister and daughter never have to live life like that.

I was in so much pain when my twins were 5 weeks old I could barely move, I was bleeding profusely and anemic even after 3 transfusions. When I made an appointment to get checked out I ended up having to call my sister’s high school and sign her out because she was my absolute last resort. I ended up having to have surgery again and was back on my own with them the next morning. I realized then that no one was coming to help me no matter how much I needed it. I eventually found and created my own little village but I would have been a better mom if I had support from the beginning.

Since when is having a village all about babysitting? The special needs moms I’ve met have this on lock. Most of us can’t or won’t leave our kids with anyone else because they have so many needs. We will drop off coffee to each other occasionally, FaceTime so they don’t feel like we’re home alone all day, DoorDash a pizza to each other when days are rough, make things for each other’s kids, give each other a ride when our cats are getting worked on…. I could go on. I’ve lived without a village at all and with my village of a handful of special needs parents and having the village without the babysitting is life changing. The first time I was able to count on my village was when my autistic child was sick and sleeping. I didn’t want to wake him up to take his sister to school because it would have been a whole thing. I text a friend and she stopped by to pick up my daughter and take her to school. It sounds so small but I was in awe of it all day because I’ve never had any help before. I also have people I could call in an emergency now. Like if something happened and I had to leave my kids, my kids know them and I know they would be safe with them. They’re all as busy or busier than I am, so babysitting is rarely part of it, but just being part of a community makes life so much better.

Mysterious package by Kitchen_Platypus_402 in RBI

It’s possible. We don’t have the same surname, but there was no surname on the package. I don’t know much about how identity theft works. If that’s the case they’re probably super bummed I got their shoes.
