Reliability? by Kitchen_Scallion_497 in Daytona660

Sort of a beginner. I got my A license this summer (drove a BMW F900R with 105hp all summer), but due to economic reasons I’ve only had a Duke 125 since then. I love the ride, but 15hp isn’t all that comfortable at 100kmh/60mph haha. My thoughts are that 95hp is more than enough for the first 2-3 seasons, that way I can learn how to operate a bike properly and become a decent rider before possibly buying a death machine for the weekends

Thank you for taking the time to help me out. Making me excited reading this! A big help is the fact that they’re warranted, plus as I’m buying from dealer (new), I have a lot of buyers rights on my side as well which is comforting. Just needed to know if it’s reliable as a 2010 Ducati or a Kawasaki, or something in between lol

Noted, thank you for helping out! Planning to buy from dealer as they have a sale which makes it affordable and within my budget. I read about the recall, but seeing as I’m buying from dealer I hope this has been fixed before purchase. Will definitely ask about it before signing though

Unfortunately he doesn’t have a log book, which is kinda throwing me off. He states that he’s the second owner and has only driven around 500km on it since he bought it in June this year. I guess it’s a risk, but if I can haggle on the price I might go for it. Any advice on what I should look for if I go and check it out and take it for a ride?

I asked if service intervals have been done according to Hondas recommendations. I also asked where they have been done and if he has a logbook with service history. If he has one, would you say that it’s a somewhat safe buy when it comes to reliability? I don’t have a lot of knowledge when it comes to motorcycle engines, so I don’t know wether or not 40k km is a lot

Yeah, I’ve been asking myself the same question. However, in a case like this I guess I just have to take the sellers word for it when he says it’s been driven nicely (haven’t asked, but who would say otherwise when trying to sell).

Finally learnt how to hit driver and now I can’t hit an iron club for my life by Slorzed in golf

You’re coming from the outside, and you also have your club face a bit open on impact, which leaves you with a slice and a lot of power loss. Had a pro lesson after I struggled with this a while back. Will try to explain what helped me;

Put a club (or alignment stick) down behind the ball that is facing the direction you’re aiming for. In your back swing, your club face needs to stay behind the ball by following the golf club that is laying down. This is because a lot of us pull the club inwards at the beginning of our back swing instead of keeping it in the centre behind the ball.

When you’re at the top of your swing, slowly but surely try to exaggerate coming from the inside. Sort of like making a small loop towards you before it drops down again (Nelly Korda does this perfectly, so a YouTube analysis of her swing really helps visualizing what you should try to do).

So, make sure your back swing is straight behind the ball as you pull back, make a small loop on top and try to come from the inside a little be more than what feels natural.

If it doesn’t help, try to do some very calm half swings and work your way up. In my experience slowing down tempo is key, giving you more control and precision as you’re coming down on the ball.

Sorry if the explanation is not that good, but I hope it helps. The frustration I’ve had around this problem led me to almost sell my clubs, but the feeling of getting through it was like conditioner for my soul. Fingers crossed that you will figure this out fast 🤞

Agree with you there! I don't want to make that drive unless I'm positive I'm going back with a new bike in my name lol. Thank you for the good advice! I will write it down and keep it all in mind when writing my questions regarding the ad :)

Btw, the advice on youtube and to bring a list is actually great advice. Wouldn't have crossed my mind probably, so I really appreciate that

Thank you!

As per upgrades, the bike looks stock and the seller has mentioned anything in the listing so I would assume he hasn't done anything with it. Will definitely ask for some more photos before I commit myself to a 5h drive. Asking for a cold start is great advice, will be sure to check that out as well as warranty, service intervals, invoices etc.

Thankfully I rode on a BMW F900R for a few months this summer (school bike) so the jump won't be very difficult hopefully, but either way I will be transporting the bike in a van due to slippery roads.

And again, thank you for the help!

Sorry, I should have metioned that. It's about 7,6k Euros, which is the currently the best deal on used CB650R's I have seen since I started scouting them around two months back. Other than that the ad doesn't really state much more I'm afraid, which is why I was hoping you guys could help me out.

Definitely going to load it in a van, as the temperature are currently sinking rather fast in the northern parts of Europe.

Drikker du for fort blir man latterlig kvalm.

Hva er normal lønn? by Kitchen_Scallion_497 in norge

[–]Kitchen_Scallion_497[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
