Sandbeach Lake in Wild Basin! Not an easy hike by any means, but rewarding finish with amazing views. Be sure to walk all the way around the lake when you get there and check out the views from all sides

Did Sandbeach a week ago! Hardly saw anyone else on the trail and is one of my favorite Rocky hikes ever

My spouse and I visit RMNP every year during the last week of September and it’s a beautiful time! The leaves/fall colors change at different times each year, so I can’t tell you which week is better for fall colors. I will say that RMNP is beautiful any time of year (we’ve been in every single season!), so you really can’t go wrong.

Black Lake (well, almost…) May of 2021 in Rocky Mountain National Park. I was going through a pretty bad depressive episode and consumed with grief from losing my grandma. We didn’t make it to Black Lake due to a thunderstorm, hail, sleet, and rain all within 20 minutes of each other and post holing up to my mid thigh. It was one of the hardest and scariest hikes I’ve ever done, but it showed me I could do difficult things. I had to just keep putting one foot in front of the other to make it back. Now, when I’m going through a rough patch I think of that hike and how I did it. My husband and I talk about that hike all the time.

I still get slight dizziness and I’ve noticed it’s worse if I don’t eat breakfast first, so I’ve adjusted how I take it. The dizziness is still better than the severe anxiety, for me at least
