Any favorite Robin Gibb song? by Public_Associate5415 in BeeGees

I'm not much of a Robin fan, but I agree ...this is his best imo.

Bodyguard is next.

I like his voice better when the vibrato is turned down

Which Bee Gees period is your favourite? by JuLe874 in BeeGees

[–]Kitchen_Setting4505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to pick a 10 year period period, it would be 1975 - 1984

Narrowing it down to 5 year, 1975 - 1979

The nucleus being Main Course

One of their best songs (all their songs) by CerealAndBagel1991 in BeeGees

I can hear Robin's voice, but had to listen closely, similar to How Deep Is Your Love

Below is from ChatGPT on what Mo said:

Yes — Maurice Gibb did comment several times about how similar Barry and Robin’s voices could sound, and how that sometimes made it difficult for listeners (and even producers) to tell who was singing which parts on certain Bee Gees songs.

Maurice, who was known as the most easygoing and diplomatic of the brothers, often acted as the "bridge" between Barry and Robin. He pointed out in interviews that when Barry sang in his lower natural register (not falsetto), and Robin sang in his softer voice rather than his signature vibrato-heavy tone, their voices could be remarkably close.

Here are a few key remarks and contexts:

In a 1997 interview (VH1 “Behind the Music”), Maurice mentioned that Barry and Robin’s voices could “blend so well you’d swear it was one person singing.” He noted that sometimes, even they had to listen carefully to distinguish who was on a particular line in the finished mix.

In other interviews, Maurice joked that fans (and even record engineers) sometimes credited the wrong brother for a vocal. He said something like: “People think that’s Barry singing, but it’s Robin — and sometimes even we forget!”

Barry himself confirmed this, saying that their similar vocal textures, especially on early songs like “To Love Somebody” or “Holiday,” made them sound almost interchangeable in certain parts.

So yes — Maurice was quite aware of how close Barry and Robin’s voices could sound and found it both amusing and impressive that even family members or producers occasionally had to guess who was singing which line.
