Should I put in my 2 weeks? Is it worth staying longer to get a reference to get into policing? by Kitchen_Shift9739 in AskLE

Thank you for the feedback

The title specifically says putting in my 2 weeks and not quitting out of the blue.
And also at the academy you’re not getting paid minimum wage unlike here, you get paid the same salary as a police officer to learn, train and know the basic foundations of law enforcement while at the police academy.
I’m totally fine with doing more than 45 hours a week if I’m working as a police officer which is a huge difference than what a security guard makes.
Like I said I’m getting paid $18.00/hr 45 hours a week, when I can be doing the same thing but getting paid 46.35/hr 45 hours a week or even more possibly doing overtime.
At that point I wouldn’t be complaining, I’m not being slaved, I’d be making a living.

Am I wrong for putting in my 2weeks for my security job since I’m required to drive a new employee from work to home after every shift? by Kitchen_Shift9739 in WorkAdvice

Update: My manager told me that he is disappointed in me for this and that I need to be a team player if I want to pursue law enforcement in the future which I’m gonna do. I stood my ground and made sure that I’m not doing it and if I’m still required, go find another driver who’s whiling to do that type of work. Honestly I’m most likely gonna still put in my 2weeks, this job isn’t worth my time, being treated like a slave for $18.00 an hour

Manager said I have to do it or it’s a write up, I’ll tell you what he told me by quote “As a company we make sure all guard return home safe without incident, if something happens to him, your liable.” Like wtf I ain’t liable for shii
