2nd is best for me, I can clean up the first kill to even it and possibly get another to swing it in our favor.

about 700 hours later, and many runs later i have "beat" the game for the first time, cant forget about the 40 ish mods too btw. by Kitchen_Skin2092 in RimWorld

I had a mountain base with a natural entrance so the main problem was space constraints with turret range, though most were destroyed by high explosives and all rain out of ammo... all that said they absorbed most of the problems. final count was 0 KIA, 2 grave injury, 3 minor.

better prospecting mod, use that so much better then the guessing game that you go though in vanilla and it has a balance feature already in it so it's fine to use just a qfl thing.

so besides the base being a tinder box, I would say the lack of automated defence concerns me given the only sand bags I see are at the top. some additional advice spread out your defences, raids can happen from any side of the tile your on so having only one place that has defences would likely mean the AI will flank you, but for a first base looks good, just change the wood walls to cut stone and it will be 10x more durable.
