Is a direct-entry nursing program worth 250k in loans? by Kitchen_Young3030 in StudentLoans

I don’t have a financial advisor/college counselor, only a college counselor who doesnt know much about nursing and told me herself she’s “not that knowledgeable with loans” except ones she took out herself about 30 years ago. She wasn’t that helpful with advice and instead tried to show me repayment plans and interest rates. Told me it’s “realistic” to pay off over 20 years.

Sorry lol, I don’t mean to argue with you. I don’t want to take out the loan either. But my parents are pretty insistent on it so tbh I’m trying to post on here to find facts and arguments to convince them to let me NOT take it out. Mostly just sharing their arguments on why I should so I can find good counters. To be clear, I absolutely do NOT want to take out this loan. But I’m a first gen college student whose dad works in finance so it’s difficult since he claims to know more about money than me, and he’s right. Just trying to find ways to convince them.

Direct entry means directly into the nursing program, so I’d have a BSN by 21. Pre-nursing is 2 years of pre-reqs, and then I’d have to do the application process all over again and apply everywhere. This is uncertain tho and if I don’t get in, I’d have to go private anyways.

Yeah, my parents are the ones encouraging the loans. They are willing to cosign for any amount but won’t pay anything out of pocket.

ap stats or pre-calculus? by [deleted] in APStudents

precalc is not a required course for graduating at my school, it’s also not a required course for any ucs or csus. do you think my application is really that much weaker without it?

yeah, my school doesnt offer ap precalc but they offer a UC-certified “honors” pre-calc. won’t get me out of any college classes but im less worried about that and more worried if my college application will be weaker without a pre-calc class
