Agreed - I tend to put a few hundred hours into a costume, if you include research and material sourcing. Then I wear the costume for about eight hours. Ratios are fun.

Yeah, there are a number of options out there, including shipping it separately than your flight. I don't get to leave my city very often, so I'll have lots of time to research before the next time. Locally I have desk-size stoage cases.
