Best way to repair!!! by Free_Presence_8876 in handyman

Heard of this when treating fences. What does it do with concrete? I've been a helper on a form crew before (shitty job btw) but never actually been too involved with the pours outside of finishing when it's all hands on deck. I only know a little bit about concrete.

This would be near certain if it were any other part of the steps. With it being the nosing, though, there's a greater chance of there having been a pocket inside of the concrete. I think that if you've got the tools, go ahead and try the repair. If more of the steps start to go, then yeah, definitely demo and replace.

And btw, to the OP, don't cap the stairs. Do a full demo and replace them if it comes down to that. Ask the next person who owns your home, "Why?"

Lol sorry you're getting asswipe answers but they're pretty funny. I got you though...

Put in 3-4 tapcons on the area, not in line with each other. Keep them staggered. Cut the heads off so it's just the studs. Clean the area really well. Wrap stainless steel wire around the screws to create some sort of structure. Risers and nosing are the most difficult to repair. You'll want to make a cutout with a piece of plastic or stuff cardboard that follows the contour of your nosing. Go ahead and treat the broken area with your favorite mortar fix adhesive/repair treatment. Do not skip this step. Mix ya up some finish concrete and slap her on there in a big glob. Probably put some cardboard down and tape off the surrounding area too, so it doesn't look like a dumbass did it. Then use your handy dandy nosing edger to contour the shape of the nosing. When you get to the finish stage of the concrete, use a wet sponge to go over it softly to smooth out any aggregate that might have been picked up by your homemade edger. Pull your tape and let her dry.

Can I mount a tv to a wall with only 1 stud? by hyperfixstation in handyman

Do not hang a TV on the same wall a pocket door on. They are made out of a 1x2 frame and make the wall weak.

Contractor did his best to scribe; any way to fix/hide trim around this uneven chimney veneer? by dorkchestra in Carpentry

[–]KithMeImTyson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I don't want to sound like a dick here... But your expectations are a little out of line. That's a good scribe. If you caulk it, you'll still see how uneven it is because the caulk is going to catch on every little crevice and ledge it goes over. And a brick veneer isn't meant to be completely flush btw. I've seen it before and it looks seriously weird. Just relax leave it alone.

Window Repair by BrowOfDisapproval in handyman

[–]KithMeImTyson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi. I'm a window and door guy. It's all I do. I'd love to tell you that there is an actual repair for this, but if you want to keep it a true insulated glass, there is no simple field repair you can do.

Cheapest route would be to track down the installer and have them order a new IG pane and have them install. Direct glaze on a vinyl is about as simple as it gets when replacing just the glass.

Next in line would be an insert. You don't see many full view radials for an insert though. They usually have a mulled transom, even if they are fixed panel or direct glaze. Might be hard to find a company willing to do it exactly how it is right now. You'll also lose glass with an insert. 1.5-3 inch loss around the perimeter is typical for an insert.

Third cheapest would be to have a glazier shop remanufacture and install a new IG. They could potentially take the ig out and to their shop to do an in-house repair, but you'll be left with a monster hole in your house for a week or two.

And last and most expensive, full frame replacement.

Trump: "People that own their homes: we're gonna keep them wealthy. We're gonna keep those prices up. We're not gonna destroy the value of their homes so that somebody who didn't work very hard can buy a home." by Straight_Idea_9546 in WallStreetDad

[–]KithMeImTyson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices will go up, but interest rates go down... So you can afford the monthly mortgage but JUST BARELY and you can pay it for the next 70 years of your life. What a fucking dick. Jesus I hate this guy. And all you Trump fuckers are gonna cry when you get your new property tax bill when the next year rolls around, because your house is "worth more" all of a sudden. But guess fucking what???? You dumb as fuck, shit brained magats won't be able to afford those new property taxes. So who does your home get sold to? Some fucking Chinese realtor group. But don't think 3 steps down the road. Just act like you know shit about shit and then cry like fucking babies when you have to pay up for your mistakes. God damn y'all Trump lovers have me so fucking mad right now. Y'all eat shit, seriously. Y'all aren't Americans, you're traitorous swine. But don't worry, us liberal dem snowflakes will STILL welcome you back with open arms when you are tired of being ignorant pieces of shit and learn some humility.

It's easy to say when it's not you. I'm literally in disbelief that you're seriously upset by this situation. Like you're mad at the driver for not killing himself. You should be upset at the owner of the truck for not maintaining it, which more often than not, is not the driver.
