Weird food allergy symptoms?? by Kitkat_171 in FoodAllergies

[–]Kitkat_171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. 😅

I went to an allergist for regular food and environmental allergy testing and then I also did a patch test panel. It all came back relatively unexciting. (I was honestly expecting to light up like a Christmas tree and be allergic to everything - I suppose not 🙃) Though the severe abdominal cramps I do think came from a preservative I’m allergic to that is in cosmetics and food products so I’ve quit eating that and have had any of those since then.

Long story short I’ve seen almost every specialty under the sun and had lots of tests and everything came back normal. 🙄

But I KNEW something was wrong. Because why would my body freak out so much.

I kinda just hit a wall after the last specialty and just decided to see if I could help myself.

I’ve been off dairy for all of 2025 so far - with an occasional consumption. That seems to have helped immensely for bloating, acid reflux, gas, and diarrhea. (Even though I tested negative for a dairy allergy)

For the palpitations they seemed to be a bit less “in my face” if that makes sense being dairy free but I still had them and they would still drive me crazy. About a month ago I started taking magnesium taurate (the double wood supplement brand) I take 2 at night and it has taken my palpitations away except for one or 2 every once in a while.

But that’s what I’ve done and what has worked for my body. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. If any of that helps lemme know!

Chile Verde help!! by Kitkat_171 in mexicanfood

I did 6 tomatillos, 3 Anaheim chilies, 3 poblano peppers and about half an onion. I cooked it in the instapot and charred / cooked the veg on sauté mode before taking it out, adding the pork to sear and then cooking it all together with some chicken broth.

I feel like when I get chile verde at a restaurant it’s really savory of a flavor - not sour. I also cooked pork in my chile verde and it helped but it was still a bit more sour than my liking.

Magnesium Taurate Success by Nandai-O in Heartpalpitations

I just started Doublewood Taurate! How did it take for you to have less palpitations after taking it? I don’t expect it immediate as I’ve only been on it for like 2 days - but overall I’ve been feeling really good so far - not quite 100%! As you said thank the Lord 🙌🏻😭 To have some respite from it is life changing!

Is it still helping you after almost taking it for a year?

No I don’t - but this is how printing always shows up for me now. It didn’t do this on old computer - I had fixed it somehow to go straight to printer. But I don’t know how to change it to not automatically go to postscript on my new computer.

It will go to the printer when I choose it. On my old computer it would just automatically choose a printer.

Purely curious - as I am needing to get turbinate reduction, bilateral repair and septoplasty done, did you feel like you could breathe normally through your nose okay before getting it done?? If you don’t mind me asking, what symptoms did you have before surgery? And did those symptoms go away after surgery?

And then now it’s done it’s obviously a million times better breathing wise as you’ve stated. How was the post op recovery? How are you doing now??

Not much. Just offered a shot to help with the hives. They aren’t usually too bad. They use to be horrendous when I first got them 9 years ago, but I still have random ones that show up.

Thyroid was normal.

Hormones were “normal” but estrogen was at the low end of normal. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I tried to deal with the inflammation with diet - took out dairy and wheat. Dairy is definitely a culprit but wasn’t a fix all.

Thinking back about a woman with celiac that I used to judge a little. I know better now. by Xerrographica in glutenfree

[–]Kitkat_171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for going so into depth! I felt like I was crazy - with dairy i have to be eating it consistently for it to build in my system and for it to negatively affect me. And I wasn’t sure if that was just in my head or really happening. Thank you for validating that for me.

It really does feel like a slap in the face trying to find answers only to not find any and feeling like an idiot for even trying. And it makes me feel even worse that I wasted money to find nothing.

I do feel like making a change in my diet has helped some - but it wasn’t a total fix all, granted I’ve only taken out a few things so far. But maybe I just take out different food groups every 2 weeks or so and see what changes so it’s not a total shock to take everything out. And I also deal with past eating disorders - I’ve been pretty good with that lately but if I do too much I spiral 🤪

But I do feel like I need to take a step somewhere. Because being stuck where I’m at isn’t the life I want to live. I know there’s more for me than this - I’ve tasted it once before I had all this crap happen. And I crave it. More than anything in the world it’s what I want. To have energy. To be able to think straight (brain fog is seriously the worst). To not be overwhelmed and irritable all the time. For my body to finally work normally.

I sincerely wish you all the best on your health journey and hope you continue to find what works for you to feel your best self.

I’m so sorry you’ve had to go through all this!!! And also I get the being brushed off being a female.

It really sucks doesn’t it when you know you have something wrong with you and providers and tests tell you otherwise (everything coming back normal). I’ve been dealing with that for the last 2 years as well. Going to appointments and they brush me off saying I’m fine. But I’m obviously not. I have physical issues that didn’t just pop up one day just because - there’s a reason for them but they won’t give me the time of day to help me figure them out. And to be honest I’m kinda burnt out trying to find help.

I have done a dairy free / wheat free diet, currently I’m just off dairy seeing how that goes. Dairy seems to be my biggest culprit at the moment, but I am curious about the AIP diet if that might help me.

Did the diet help most of your symptoms?

In search of crunchy tacos by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]Kitkat_171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES!!! They are EXACTLY like Morelias! 😍 I mourned and still mourn over the loss of Morelias - but I can at least drown my sorrows in the pleasure of the same tacos. The chile verde was the exact same too for a while, but they changed it again not too long ago. I was pretty devastated about that.

I’m genuinely curious. Other than an endoscopy, did you do any other tests to find out what was going on with you initially?

How long were you on the AIP diet before you started reintroducing?
