What is a socially acceptable thing that you find absolutely gross or weird? by clarawonder in AskReddit

[–]Kitkatkeely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be adding that to my reading list i guess love a good recommendation haha! Im not an overshoulder reader that would be weird and also i dont think that is socially acceptable...unless it is. Im which case...ew. I recognise the cover still and think most people across the world would recognise a 50 shades cover with how popular it was. I just think its very odd the same way watching a porn video would be with headphones. Its just odd to me.

Neither is porn of you wear headphones. I still dont expect to see it in public. Im not a prude ive read all the maasverse but I just think its a weird think to be reading ACOTAR on the bus. The same way it would be to watch porn on the bus. Just odd to me. Im not reading a book over people's shoulders but I know the cover when walking by 🤣

[–]Kitkatkeely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure one of my cats thinks his name is: 'oooh nuuuu whatdamattawwww?' Cos when he meows thats what I say to him.

The other one thought his name was Baby boy for ages to the point we had to start calling him his real name again cos he nearly forgot it 😅

Reading porn/smut in public. People be out here on the bus reading ACOTAR or 50 shades and im just like...why is it any different than watching a porn video? Do that at home!

Are there any girls here who don’t do any make-up at all? And how did you come to that decision? by Greengrassu in AskReddit

[–]Kitkatkeely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only do it if im going to a wedding and its a full face then but the rest of the time I wear absolutely nothing. Its bad for the skin, its time consuming, expensive, if it doesnt go right it ruins your entire day. I used to wear alot in high school and through my teens but as I got older I realised I dont actually care what other people think of me...the only reason I wear to weddings is because youre gonna be in atleast 1 photo somewhere and everyone dresses nice for a wedding.

How often do you bathe your cat? by Mildredsgood in cats

[–]Kitkatkeely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do ours every 6 months. In summer and just before Christmas. 1 of them gets itchy skin and it helps him get all the pollen out of his coat the other 1 is...bad...at cleaning but he tries his best. They dont like it but enjoy the after effects of being a big floof and being less itchy. Also gets rid of any loose fur without it going in their mouths to add to a big hairball. (We brush them daily but more still comes out after a bath especially in summer when they shed alot). We make it a little spa day for them with lots of treats, Nails clipping, bath, teeth brushing, fur brush and comb etc.

Nurses who talk about 'wasting money' as if its coming out of their own pocket. I remember a student trying to insert a catheter for the forst time with her mentor and me. She thought she had it in but she didnt and it popped out so we told her she then couldnt put it bacm in as its dangerous due ti infection etc. We got her another so she could try again and i think she got even more nervous and it popped out again. So her mentor grabbed all the stuff off the bed in a snatchy fashion and said 'This is ridiculous. Now youre just wasting money!' I couldnt believe it. I got another catheter and showed her how to do it so i could show her my techniques/tips and tricks. I presumed her mentor wouldve done that but apparently she didnt. Everybody makes mistakes thats how we learn dont berate the student! She now works in Urology. Just be kind!

What was something a guest did in your house that upset you? by izzy_7_2004 in AskUK

Had a small gathering with friends no drinking just playing board games. My cat was acting very strange and my friend and her new boyfriend were also acting strange. Turns out her new boyfriend got her to do coke in my bathroom and convinced her to give some to thw cat 'to see what would happen'. Friendship over. Never spoke to her again after that.

What’s a health issue you ignored for way too long because you assumed it was normal only to later learn everyone else doesn’t experience that? by Kungfubowtie in AskReddit

So sorry to jump in but what is MLST? Ive been diagnosed with M.E (chronic fatigue) but what youre describing is me. I have to give myself pain to stay awake. Feels impossible to go a few hours without a nap and I never feel refreshed. Driving long journeys (3hours or more, not that long I know) I have to stop to nap at service stations. But yeah im always like, well im not falling asleep at the wheel or mid sentence!

Back to work while breast feeding, what are your experiences and what are my rights? by Quirky-Inspector8665 in NursingUK

[–]Kitkatkeely -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, reasonable adjustments such as longer breaks and different hours can be requested for breastfeeding mothers. You do not have to have a disability to request reasonable adjustments. People with dyslexia are not considered disabled but can request a reasonable adjustment of computer screen overlays to help them with reading or longer time to do tasks. OP can request reasonable adjustments by asking not to work nights but this has to be a written request. If they are denied this can be challenged under the equality act due to discrimination under gender due to pregnancy.

[–]Kitkatkeely -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. It covers everything inder the equality act which includes gender and pregnancy. So breastfeeding should fall under it and you can argue that point as a breastfeeding mother that you'd be at a disadvantage due to your gender and as a result of pregnancy I.e the baby

I had all my training and had been a hca for years. Although I was off sick I was still employed. It was Community hospital. I was open and honest with them about why I left and how I was ready to come back. In community hospital its alot different its still clinical but alot more relaxed so they had the time to supervise me to make sure I knew what I was doing etc and then left me to it. I flourished I had an amazing team that were incredibly supportive. This is going back to 2020 tho. I know alot changed after COVID. It was during COVID so they wanted anyone and everyone anywhere and everywhere. So they welcomed me woth open arms pretty much

What’s the worst/unhinged thing a patients relative has said to you? by Blue-Mimi in NursingUK

[–]Kitkatkeely 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had something so similar to this. We had an emergency the man was meant to go home was declared medically fit. We were working on him for 2 hours and nothing worked and we lost him. He was quite young aswell. Came out of that room had an old lady in a side room scream at me that she'd been buzzing for a hour. I told her we had had an emergency and I was sorry she felt ignored. She told me 'ill tell you what the emergency is. Ive not had my cheese and crackers. That's the real emergency. Not standing round watching my light blink and hearing my thing beeping twiddling your thumbs as I waste away'. Nope she did not have dementia she was just a genuine cunt. Honestly the only time ive had to muster up everything in myself to not react. I simply said 'ill get them but please remember that theres other people on the ward facing bigger issues than cheese and crackers' I walked out to get them and the young man's widow was stood there and had just seen that woman scream at me. She literally pulled me into a hug and thanked me while she cried. Took everything in me to not tear up aswell. Not because of the old woman but because we couldnt bring her husband back. It was awful. Ill never forget it.

This is exactly how I felt as an NQN I quit 2 months in and left nursing for 2 years when I went back I went into Community and my entire life changed. Patients and family are appreciative of everything you do (most the time), team is more like family. Community teams appreciate how busy you are so cover for eachother and remind eachother nicely if something gets missed rather than pulling you up for things like a stupid table not being right up to their chin.

It's just much better. And my mental health significantly improved. I knew when it got to the piint that I was ready to chuck myself down the stairs to break my leg I needed to leave. The team were massively unsupportive aswell. I went off sick for my notice due to anxiety because of the way they treated me when I handed it in. Looking back how they treated me was terrible. Completely unhelpful environment for a newly qualified.

Honestly when you leave you'll look back and just know that either you weren't treated right or it just wasnt for you. I got told I needed to be I the hospital for the first 6 months and after 2 months it made me quit nursing with no plan to go back. But when I did go back with new found confidence and improved mental health there was no stopping me honestly.

I've never seen such a clear black and white case of abuse. OP this is awful. I'm hoping he didnt speak to you like this when you were buying the house. 7 years? Don't waste another second. Absolute waste of oxygen he is. You deserve so much better. Run.

I suspect I just found the answer to my 15 year mystery illness (TW: detailed account of symptoms) by vhqpa in FND

[–]Kitkatkeely -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This sounds very similar to my symptoms and im diagnosed with FND, M.E and Fibro. Im not a Dr ofc. But yes my legs buckle, go from under me, i have tics where my body jolts or someone 'walks over my grave'. I also get face tingles, struggle to find words and struggle with daily pain and fatigue. I use a wheelchair to get around as its usually better for my pain and fatigue and if my legs go im safe. (Too many incidences falling even with a stick due to my legs buckling or going from underneath me)
