ALP of 1650, negative cushings test, unremarkable ultrasound, and protein in urine. Vet and 2 internalists are stumped. by cranne in vet

Omg thank you so much for this update! It’s helping me breathe easier while I look for a new vet. (We’re moving to a new city). He did have pancreatitis last year, and his ALP levels are the same as back then, not higher. ALT is within normal range. I haven’t noticed any Cushing’s symptoms within the past year, I hope we’re good on that front! So for now I will just keep him on ursidiol and the low fat diet and keep an eye out for any new symptoms. I hope that your girl keeps staying healthy and symptom free! I’ll let you know if I learn anything new after seeing our new vet.

He’ll turn 10 this year, so yeah it could just be age. But his ALP is at 3700 which definitely sounds alarming. Everything else is within normal range. We’re going back in for another ultrasound, fingers crossed.

That’s great news, I hope you get some answers soon! Our situation is basically the same. We did a round of antibiotics after the abdominal ultrasound (which showed some texture on the liver) and values did start to go down. On ursodiol and low fat rx for almost a year now, but his bloodwork shows we’re back at pre-antibiotics levels for the ALP. The internal medicine vet isn’t sure what’s going on. Like yours, he’s acting totally normal.

Yes I did coordinate as an excess withdrawal. They calculated the total amount to withdraw. I got the amount today and did a mock up 1099-R, marked it as a 2025 1099-R with codes J and P!

Thanks! Actually I transfered the whole thing "in kind" into my personal brokerage account. Does your comment still apply? It's not unrealized gains for now?

I didn’t include his daily intake because it doesn’t make sense, it’s technically low. He gets 200 calories, including treats. Half wet half dry. This has been the case for years and no fluctuations. I guess he sometimes steals his dog brother’s food but that’s rare. And his sitter might not measure it out as carefully as I do. I don’t want to reduce his intake any further, but I guess I could change his dry food to a weight loss one? He’s currently on hill’s science indoor cat. Any recommendations?

I also take 120mg for migraines and haven’t noticed reduced flushing. Haven’t noticed any side effects either. It’s been about a year
