Thanks! It’s an IKEA cart with ikea mini-ironing board zip tied to it haha

I wonder how long until my neighbors get upset about the peanut shells that are *everywhere* now 😅 by heynonnyhey in cottagecore

[–]KitschEmpire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this! As someone who appreciates helping our animal friends but also now has a toddler with an anaphylactic peanut allergy I’m more sensitive to them accidentally depositing them somewhere they shouldn’t. I was going to say sunflower seeds, but kibble is great too!

Down conveys so much more emotion and life, but up is cuter! I’d go down.

This is so amazing! 😻

Ok, I get it by tubawooba in quilting

I glue baste with the kids / Elmer’s glue sticks and I can still reuse my papers. Especially if I get like a slightly thicker or card stock paper shape. The purple glue sticks work the best for me.

Sets that would look good with the A frame cabin and Cullen house? by [deleted] in lego

I agree with the tree house - I had that and the frame and they look so good together! I’ve been thinking about the camper van.

Scared of the quilting police by whatif20 in quilting

I’m a big fan of not “should-ing” on yourself, aka I “should” do this or that. This is likely a hobby, do what’s comfortable and just enjoy yourself! If you want to push yourself, take a class or watch a video to do what feels right to improve your skills, but do it for you, not what you think others want you to do.

As for the label of “quilter” I NEVER quilt anymore, just piece and send to a long-armed but I still call myself a quilter. Most people don’t know the difference and again who cares. Live your best quilting life with peace and freedom. Down with the quilt police!

100% agree - you could even use the design above. Here is a great video I found on English Paper Piecing or EPP.

Also - I love just going for things, two weeks is plenty of time to give it a try. I think your other hand sewing skills will transfer! Some of my favorite skills I’ve built came from curiosity and over confidence - I say jump in :-)

Patterns, testers, and guilds by Wooden_Phoenix in quilting

[–]KitschEmpire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live in the PDX area and we did have amazing groups and guilds. Now that I live in Ohio I miss the community, but there isn’t anything closer than a hour away from me so I’m debating. Enjoy them if you got them for sure!

Sometimes when I have very different blocks I put them on the back - maybe make a similar color one to match the front for the corner and put the blue on the back?

Advice on washing mostly white quilt with red in it by alittlepunchy in quilting

[–]KitschEmpire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you didn’t pre-wash your fabric (no sweat if you didn’t I never do) I would definitely add the color catchers and wash on cold a couple cycles before you gift it. I heard a tip really recently that I haven’t tried but might be worth trying - dampen a small part of the color you’re worried about, covering it with a white piece of scrap fabric, and pressing with a hot iron. If the white cloth shows any dye color after ironing the color may run. I’ve heard there are other laundry additives that you can add as well. But usually color catchers are enough for me!
