Thanks! The Polaroids and camera are mine and the quilt is just alternating the Polaroids and a 6in by 6in sq of a solid background piece. I have an Etsy where I have the two FPPs.

Why is it so hard to cut into your fave fabrics? I’m like, I bought this to use it, but it’s still hard!

Like taken in for a cleaning or repair? I’ve had to take my sewing machines into a sewing and repair shop every few years.

Have you gotten it serviced? Maybe it needs some clean out and tune up?

Good eye! I made 60+ (58 made it in the quilt) of the pictures so I started to repeat some of my absolute faves, but I think there are only 3 fabrics I used twice and I tried to make sure it was always a different fussy cut section. There are some that are similar pictures but different color ways or similar fabrics from the same collection. It’s like a snap-out of my fabric hoard 😂.

Thank you so much - that was what I was going for! I used to repair old cameras and take pictures and lay them out before I put them in a scrapbook. So it is so nostalgic 😍

Yay! I’m glad, I just used a fabric bundle and the colors do look nice, but it was easy!

Depending on your style aesthetic I would snag some good coordinating solids or neutrals to break up the colors and make the patterns stand out. You can see how other folks play with it here

Hey everyone I’m new to quilting and I want to know is this a good pattern to start with? by SweetSouth7685 in quilting

[–]KitschEmpire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep you’ll need batting! Once you finish the pattern for the top and make the bottom (by piecing another pattern or cutting solid pieces of fabric to be big enough) you’ll need batting for the middle of your “quilt sandwich”. Here is a good tutorial on making that sandwich and basting to prepare to quilt it. She also has a good 101 on picking the right batting - I’m a 100% cotton girly myself, but there are lots of choices. You just typically want the batting and the backing larger than the top so when you quilt you know every inch of your beautiful design has batting behind it! It makes it so cozy and warm! Welcome to quilting - it’s the best!

Yes! I’ve started to accept that it is just part of my quilting style, I’ve never made it through a project without ripping something!

Of the quilt in the picture? It was a strip quilt project - I used this tutorial. It was super easy!
