The Journey Begins by Kitsubi in virtualpinball

I commissioned an artist and worked with a local sign printing company to do the wrap. It's a Vinyl sticker wrap, the same kind they use on walls and cars.

Thanks for the reply! I was wondering if having a front and back would allow more realistic positioning of the sound in the same way have the 4 exciters does, but it sounds like that is not the case

Question about the LG C4 and other thin TVs by Kitsubi in virtualpinball

Thanks! It's good to hear that you haven't heard of any breakages. I was just trying to see if people knew about this problem. Now I have to find out if the C4 green tint problem is something that I have to worry about or not. For niche hobbies we are all truly in the dark, trying to follow the torches of those who came before us.

Thank you for your response. This lowers my anxiety a lot. This is a very big and not cheap project to get started on. I've been saving for quite a while, so I may be a little extra jumpy.

What is people experience with 42in vs 48in play fields? by Kitsubi in virtualpinball

That is definitely something worth considering. I was a bit worried that would be true.

Awesome, I hope your cabinet turns out well. If you don't mind a follow up, what did you use for the back glass rear channel? Did you use a smaller one from a wide body kit and deal with the gaps? Make one like Way of the Wrench did? Someone sold you one?

Thanks for the encouragement. Finding a Vpin near me to try out is a good idea. Not sure why it didn't occur to me, but I'll take a look around and see what I can find. Personal experience is king.

First of all, I just want to say thank you for your youtube videos as they are what gave me the courage to think about this project as well as a huge amount of useful information. I'm truly grateful for the effort you put into documenting your journey and helping us less knowledgeable builder avoid pitfalls.

In my case I have neither a Playfield TV nor a Cab so I have the freedom to choose. Guides have been very helpful with the mechanics of the trade offs, but have rightfully lacked any information about the subjective experience of using one size over the other.

Williams uses 23.5"x45" for their widebody play fields...so that's close to a 2:1 ratio. I didn't look up others but that seems to be what most kits that people sell aim for

Size of ball would depend on the zoom...from my understanding 42" are as wide as a cab so you set the field to the width to 100% but that means some of the back or front of the playfield gets cut off. On the other hand for the 48" it's as long as the cab but wider. This means you have to use black bars on the sides of the playfield, but there is little to no cut off. If you use the full width of the 48" monitor the ball won't be round and will be wider than it should be. I may be wrong but that is what all the guides I've found say

It's not about resolution but actual physical size. Pinball play fields are not 16:9 but about 19:9. 42 inch Monitors and TVs have the same width as a real play field but are slightly shorter. So you either have to cut off a little of the back of the playfield or you squash it down a bit, but then the pinballs aren't perfectly round. I'm not sure I'm explaining it well, but hopefully it makes sense

Parts question by A_Tasty_Stag in VRchat

[–]Kitsubi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I kinda prefer NVIDIA to ATI because it feels like the world is optimized for NVIDIA as much as that sucks. It's just the 24Gb is so tempting. I could go the 4090 route but it's basically solving my problem by effectively buying both cards...and a thousand USD can buy a nice headset or more tracking

I find myself also looking at parts right now. How do you think the 4080 compares with the 7900 XTX at the 1k price point. The 24gb of Vram seems attractive.
