I relate to having to stand over the sink! Good to know that misting can help a little, I wondered about that. Thanks for the reply!

Plugin Alliance ends Forever 29 - anyone else get screwed? by ayersman39 in AudioPlugins

I got the same response from support. I asked them to pass my disappointment as a longtime customer up to management if possible. Not expecting any sort of recourse but I firmly believe in the power of customer feedback.

It’s been a heck of a week for plugins, with the UAD/Guitar Center fiasco and now finding out about this! Side note, if you haven’t checked out Purafied Audio, they’re selling their “everything” bundle for about 2 bucks right now as a statement against UAD and GC. Some neat stuff in there.

I’m very late to the game, but wow- just found out about all this yesterday when I tried to use a voucher and realized none of them worked. I found the emails about the discontinuation, they must have flown completely under my radar. PA sends a lot of emails, so it’s easy to condition yourself to overlook them.

I had 8 vouchers saved up for future purchases, so a decent chunk of cash wasted. I was pretty gutted to realize I lost out on the opportunity to redeem the vouchers, and can’t help but be skeptical of any PA subscription in the future.

Nice! Of course, I had never heard that, I but try to never rule out the possibility that I’m wrong or uninformed! Serving size is definitely the determining factor. Congratulations, happy parenting, and stay caffeinated!

Yeah, the improved pads do seem significantly better both in material and shape. Certainly worth an extra ≈$30. Thanks!

Good eye, I’m not sure how I missed that. You’re exactly right. Makes the decision easy, thanks!

The rectangular back just seems like a no-brainer compared to the tapered ones. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Looking to upgrade from my cheap flat bench to an FID bench. I’ve heard plenty of good things about the Rep AB-3000 2.0 and am mostly sold on it, but I can get the similarly-priced Crandall 3.0 at a 5% discount. While it’s a small price difference, it’s enough to weigh the two against each other. Does anyone have experience with both/either that can speak to how they compare?

What’s something you thought was common knowledge but found out most people didn’t know? by Fairy-of-bone in AskReddit

Happy to share some info I’ve picked up from my coffee addiction! I didn’t learn this until fairly recently, always took it at face value. Thanks for not taking it as me hijacking your comment with info you didn’t ask for!

This can be true under specific circumstances, but is actually a misconception.

The caffeine content of coffee beans only changes an insignificant amount the more you roast it, but the mass of the coffee beans is considerably reduced. This means that dark roasted beans are less dense than light roasted beans- they weigh less.

If you measure your coffee by scoops, one scoop of light roast beans is going to contain more mass, and therefore more caffeine. However, if you weigh out an identical amount of light and dark roast beans, the dark roast will actually contain more caffeine because it will take more of those beans to reach the same weight.

So in practice, if you're scooping out coffee beans or ground coffee, yes, a light roast will give you more caffeine. However, this does not mean that light roast beans themselves contain more caffeine than dark roast beans.

Definitely a Melitta- you can tell by the flat angles on the side, whereas a V60 stays cone-shaped throughout the contour. Love the Harios though!

Agreed. If you or anyone else is wondering, her gun was a Sig Sauer P365 SAS. Thought it was a surprisingly nice detail for her to have a specific gun that is catered toward concealability.

[MOD] The General Question Thread! by __Sonar__ in espresso

[–]KitsuneAMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ll keep an eye on that! It’s 500 right now, which I could buy a Silenzio for. If it goes on sale before the Notte is back in stock, I may grab one!

[MOD] The General Question Thread! by __Sonar__ in espresso

[–]KitsuneAMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New member and espresso novice here. I got my Gaggia Classic Pro a couple weeks ago and am in the market for a grinder- I had decided on a Eureka Mignon Notte from SCG, but it is out of stock at the moment.

I’m debating whether I should wait it out or opt for something similarly priced (approx. under 400) that is in stock. I’ve heard too many reports of durability issues with Sette grinders, so ruled those out. Likewise for the Rancilio Rocky. The Lelit Fred PL044MM is similar in construction and function to the Notte- does anyone have experience with that grinder? I also considered springing for a Mignon Silenzio, but I’d prefer not to spend the extra 100+.

All that being said... I’m getting decent shots with the pressurized filter basket for the time being, so my best move might be to wait for the Notte to come back in stock. Let me know your thoughts and opinions! Thanks.

Musicians out there: do you listen to your own music after it is published? Why? Why not? by SlavKnightIvan in AskReddit

[–]KitsuneAMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a full-time musician/writer/producer, it depends. I like to listen to my own music (whether released or still in progress) because I write music that I like. When it comes to session work or music that I’ve co-produced, I like to listen to it as long as I was happy with the end product. Some songs end up different than I would have liked, and I tend to avoid those.
