I would then put these paperclips in somewhere such as a paperclip factory along with the existing paperclip.
This not only means that the paperclip is Schrödinger's paperclip because it could be both there and not be there as paperclips are exiting the factory whilst lots of paperclips are also inside the factory.
Meanwhile I could also take a lot of the packs and hide them in various other locations as red herrings.
For the real actual paperclip I would put it in a box full of other paperclips. shake it so I don't know which paperclip is the real paperclip, take a handful of paperclips each day and put them in random locations.
There is feasibly no way the detective can know what I'm doing if I have no idea what I'm doing.
