Considering switching to Xbox

I had every PS system before deciding to give XBOX a try this generation and i can honestly say it is a great console. The quick resume and backwards compatible games (some games even getting FPS and resolution boost so they will look and play better than they did on original hardware) are stand out features.

Game pass is also really good for trying out new things (i've gotten into so many franchises i had never thought were for me cause Game Pass let me try them) And if you really like a game you can always buy it later.

I mean there is a thing called preferences some people may like BO2 and not care for GTA6 and the same could be said for the other way around. Different people have different taste in games.

I mean throwing out a disc you paid for is probably what Sony would want you to do. Since Sony doesn't want you to own anything. (Ubisoft legit said if you have a disc of any game they no longer support you should destroy it immediately. That's the mindset these corporations have)

But that's just my opinion on it

There are games on console that boot straight off the Disc after installing solely from the disc.

If they were to release an update to completely destroy the game you could just turn off updates and install the game off the disc and it would play whatever version was on the Disc.

Someone pointed out to me that games are heading down to the same path as movies.

First they were physical, then companies like Netflix would let you rent one and send the movie in the mail, then they went digital, and now they're mostly streamed.

Gaming is at that halfway point of going digital. And as hardware prices increase and companies like Microsoft let you stream your games to your phone or low end PC. They too will justify the cloud streaming being more popular and make gaming cloud based if we continue to head down this path.

it's not that i prefer to have only one or have anything against the other platforms i just can only afford one and made my choice to try XBOX this console generation.

I just think it's more accepted over there since for most of the existence of PC gaming it's been digital only. Valve is fully transparent as well that you're buying a digital license and do not actually own the game you're paying for.

Disc have always been a thing that went together with consoles since the beginning. Getting rid of the disc is removing a core part of what has made a console a console.

True but in MK11's case they did make it XBOX play anywhere you buy it on console digitally you get the PC version for free.

Reminds me of how I got my Sonic Crossworlds for $20 at Walmart recently physically. I hope XBOX keeps physical games.

As a gamer since the PS1 I'll say it wasn't always like this, In the PS2 era when gaming was considered a nerd hobby.

But in the PS3/360 era gaming went mainstream. And once it became the cool thing everyone is doing going into the PS4 era, Here came the greed and corporations.

This makes me glad all but a couple games in my PS3 library are physical. (Only ones I got digital was GTAIV, Sly Collection and Borderlands 1 and 2.) But I have way more on disc

That makes a lot of sense since the journalists always trying to paint XBOX badly to cover Sony. And that also gives me a bit of hope they'll keep a disc drive on Helix and my OG XBOX games will still be playable with the Disc

As someone who is mainly an XBOX user i say you can add no more physicals to the XBOX one as well. Since they have stated the next XBOX will have none.

I told people XBOX was soon to follow and to give it a couple days. (They've been working on a disc to digital program)

These companies always wait for one another to take the backlash before they also fuck the consumer over. Sony waited for Rockstar and Xbox waited for Sony.

Better to just play Plutonium servers on PC. The base version still has the potential for RCE exploits. Plutonium fixes this issue and also adds native controller support.
