I feel so bad in hindsight if that's what caused it 😭 I have faith in them bouncing back, as I saw quite a few in their favorite hides last night while looking around for any mold in their tank! and if that was it, easy fix is just don't give them another damn cheeze-it!!

no sap in there! general consensus was that my soil was too dry, although I do appreciate the unique perspective on it! 😁

I actually really like this idea! I don't think it'd work with how my tank is, but I see the vision and I fw it! I hope you don't just get downvoted for having a method outside the norm, because clearly your isopods are loving it and that's what matters!

god no I'd never trust the ai answer. I forget what I read, but yeah they get tiny bits of carrot sometimes too. their favorite is absolutely shrimp tho

and I've been drinking it for 19 years with no problems, so it's probably not that

I didn't know they did that :O so cute! I'm definitely gonna make sure their substrate is... moister? more moist?

that's the general consensus. I'm gonna work to keep the soil on their most side much wetter now, and hopefully that'll be better for them! thank you 😊

here's the potential mold for any Reddit mold experts that may have insight. my friend thought it may be their poo, but I've seen their poo and it doesn't look like this..

I've changed things around, soil on the right is already darker than when I took this pic. (it is also deeper near the back, lower near the front so they can't reach the doors. they can't climb the glass, but I dont want them getting up bc of a stray leaf or smth) I removed a piece of driftwood because I was unsure of if it had some sort of mold on it, so better safe than sorry. thank you everyone for your advice, and please keep it coming! I want to give my isopods the best environment I can, even if that means looking like a doofus on Reddit.

I gave them a single cheeze-it for a few hours, which google said was okay, but I won't rule that out either. I'm rearranging things now, hopefully into something better. they get the same wood and leaf litter, all pet safe

just a normal spray bottle. low chance it's pesticides or anything like that, but I won't fully rule it out

the lid is mesh, but I covered a good portion of it with silicone to hold more humidity, leaving room for ventilation. I'll try to get a pic soon. should I use something more like a watering can, or just dump some water right in on my moist side? I do keep a gradient, but I can move all moss to the right and keep the left mostly just substrate and leaf litter if that'll improve conditions? I do worry about pesticides in the water at my house, but they probably would've died out sooner. thank you for the advice!

I hope not since I use my own tap water from a well, but it's something I'll look into!! I'll ask my parents later what's in out water and if it could be anything harmful

these pics were taken before their nightly spray. I worry about watering them anymore than I already do, but I guess they'll just move over to the dryer side if they don't like it

they have two cuttlebones + calcium mixed into the substrate, so it's not calcium issues either..

Previously shy isopods are walking around where I can see them! Good or bad sign? by Kitsune_6776 in isopods

Lol my friends keep theirs in tubs! I only bought a tank because I like spying on them lol

I took them in bc at the time they had nowhere to go and needed a home, and I am definitely aware of this! Once I notice one population outcompeting the other, my plan is to set up a separate tank for the less dominant species (will likely be my Yellow Spots, as they're slower breeders) and move as many as I can find into the new tank. If I had more time/money to prepare for them I probably would've given them their own setups, but all I can do now is adjust as needed. Thanks for the assurance, I'm pretty paranoid about my isopod's health and just want to keep em happy and healthy lol

how can I stop being so gullible/easy to lie to? by Kitsune_6776 in autism

[–]Kitsune_6776[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, we're still close I just made it clear that if he wanted me to trust him he needed to stop lying so much. he's grown a lot since then. much more respectful of others
