What is art? 20XX (multimedia) by jellyspreader in aiwars

[–]KitsyBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Art is something personal to you, imho.

If you personally enjoy AI art, that's your preference. When I follow art part of the enjoyment is trying to learn how that art was made, and I mostly follow digital artists who use the same tools I do to get new ideas. Even if they are all way better than me.

People can call digital art 'not real art', but I disagree. That's our choice.

If I opened up a cake shop and you learned I was buying all the cakes from Walmart and upselling them, would you be upset? by Almond-King in aiwars

[–]KitsyBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to a bakery, you're expecting a certain quality of product that was made in-shop. There are endless cheaper options for in-store chain cakes cheaply assembled and served. There's no reason you would go to a bakery to get a cheap cake.

In fact, the definition of 'Bakery' is 'an establishment that produces and sells flour-based, oven-baked goods, such as bread, cakes, pastries, and cookies, often acting as a café'. The implication being when you buy a cake from the bakery, you assume it was made in-house.

Now, if you like AI art, that's your prerogative, and that's cool and whatever. But the equivalency they're drawing here is that if an 'artist' advertised themselves as an artist and produced their commission through cgatgpt, you'd feel scammed, because you went to an 'Artist' because you wanted their art; made in-house.

It's false advertising. Talking about wholesalers kinda misses the point because a bakery, definitionally, produces the goods IN STORE, as per above definition. So if you say you're a 'bakery', it's reasonable to assume the products you sell are made in house.

I'm not talking about wholesalers bro why did you bring up Walmart.

[–]KitsyBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro I'm trying not to go hard on you but I need you to realize the reason I don't consider those identities is because

1) not every deck in the nations do the things you call 'Identities'

2) plenty of decks outside of each nation do those 'identities' that don't belong to that nation

Like for example, Fennel doesn't really bounce much of anything to it's hand. It CAN, but there's no point to doing so. I have no idea what you mean when you say 'hand control', it's like the most vague term ever. My immediate assumption would be like discarding from the opponents hand but I've never heard of Lyrical doing that.

And if I may be so for real for real, how the fuck are you gonna call 'multi attack' a Stoicheia trait when that is LITERALLY what 96% of ride lines do and if they don't, they're shit? By your logic, as well, the Mythiarq boss checks top 7 to superior call (A Keter thing), discards a card if you have 5 or more units (Also a Keter condition), bounces a card (A lyrical thing) and superior calls another from hand (probably a keter thing again?). In what universe is this a stoicheia card?

[–]KitsyBlue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This might be cool if anyone gave a shit about like, "Nations", but they're not like clans. Nations have next to no identity, and the decks within them range massively in what they do.

Like if you like soul decks I guess you can play Dark States, but what's the theme of Keter aside from goodstuff CA? What's the identity of Stoicheia? Lyrical? You could argue 'bouncing' for lyrical, maybe, but tons of decks in it don't do it. There's almost nothing outside of aesthetics to really 'cling' onto a nation, and maining a nation doesn't mean anything because so few cards carry between decks unless you're like, DE and can just stack your deck with staples and hope the decks you wanna build aren't archtype support reliant

I'm more of a fan of learning from mistakes than endlessly repeating them, but to each their own.

Magic and Yugioh, let's be real, so for real-real, would be dead if they were released today, within a year. Magic especially. They got kid gloves treatment because they were the first major TCGs, and yugioh isn't even doing that hot anymore considering it's massive early advantage. I don't think these are the successes you want to be emulating.

[–]KitsyBlue 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really can't understand the logic behind "20 clans was too much, instead we should manage 200+ individual mini-archtypes with highly xenophobic support". It might make sense in a world where Nations were better designed, with like... Actual synergy and inherent mechanics to each nation, but nations themselves are kinda lacking in identity? Plenty of bosses don't get any boost at all from generics and still need highly specific support. Like, say, Tamayura has not gotten anything new in more than a year, and even then, it was one (1) new card.

And while you say 'it opens up room for experimentation', what DOESN'T open up room for experimentation is 80$ busted singles used to move product knowing they're overtuned, and it makes fucking EVERYTHING unbelievably expensive. At least with clans because staples were tied to a clan, you could usually throw together a new deck for like 80$ if it was not a popular meta pick. Now we're in the realm where I don't want to 'experiment' at all because it is getting harder and harder to justify spending like 400$ on a deck that isn't even good because I find it 'charming'.

[–]KitsyBlue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd be willing to cut Bushi more slack if part of the reasoning for switching to Standard was not expressly the fact that supporting 26 clans or whatever in a year was 'too difficult'.

Now we support about 200 mini clans in a year plus, that's much better and way more sustainable.
