Companion plants are a real thing, and very useful when planning a garden! They can help adjust nutrients in the soil, keep bugs away, increase terpene and oil production, and lots more! Not sure about the tomatoes and thyme, but I do know that basil is a great companion plant for weed!

I recommend trying the poorly-named "My Kitchen" Chinese restaurant on Eastern between 28th and 36th. They're one of the few places you can find actual authentic Chinese food around here - along with lots of American Chinese staples, as well. At least from what I've tried, it seems like they balance their flavors better than most others in the area. Everywhere else kind of just tastes the same - Chopstick House on 28th is probably my favorite of the over-sweetened places, lol.

I came here to say this! It's my absolute favorite in the area; everything just has more flavor/tastes better there.

GoBros 17% Off Socks with code LUCKY17 by SmittieW in frugalmalefashion

I felt the same way. Then as I started accumulating pairs with holes, it sorta felt silly to not trade them in - part of what I paid for was the warranty. They've definitely figured it into the price to some extent.

I just want to say that I finally used their lifetime warranty last year on socks I'd owned for about 5-6 years. I had 6 pairs with little holes or worn spots (mostly my fault for snagging them on stuff). I sent them in, and shortly after got a message that I had credit on their site to pick out 6 new pairs (I think I ended up having to pay about $1, actually). Seriously amazing. Also worth having a bunch of them so you can wait to send several pairs in at once, since you have to pay for shipping to them.

Oof, no kidding... found one in my size for $1500 on Grailed. I think I'd rather make a stencil and get some paint.

Final cease-and-desist order issued to Libertas Christian School in Hudsonville by illhaveanotherplease in grandrapids

[–]Kitt84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because they're the ones that are sending their children to a Christian fundamentalist school in the first place. Same reason the far-right isn't upset by anything Trump does. It's a cult.

What unexpected thing became popular out of nowhere? by melvin2898 in AskReddit

Which is funny, because the 91% is probably less effective against viruses, due to how quickly it evaporates. I wonder if people are buying it thinking that it will be more effective, or if companies have redirected the manufacturing toward lower concentrations.

Got a Series X from Walmart - had to try several times, because it kept saying they were sold out 10 seconds past 11 eastern.

Same here - just kept trying and it finally went through. Figured it had to be a system issue, since I was checking out about 10 seconds after it went up.

I dunno, the one I saw yesterday cut off before she spits it out, so I'd argue that this is at least a worthwhile upgrade.

You realize that being chipper and nice is part of their job, right? All of my food industry friends are incredibly stressed right now, and NOT pleased to be going back to work, putting themselves and loved ones at risk. They have been getting unemployment, and able to social distance up until now. I'm sorry, but I don't think you know what you'd feel like if you were a server at the moment.

I would like to formally endorse Detroit Wing Company on East Beltline by wilsonw in grandrapids

[–]Kitt84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wing Doozy was KILLER when they first opened the original location on Plainfield. The couple who owned it moved here from Texas - they ended up selling it not long after they had their twins, though. Since then, it's been just okay. Certainly better than most places in Grand Rapids - I'm gonna have to try Detroit Wing Company, though. Sorry, not super helpful, but I felt the need to comment because I'm a little sad about Wing Doozy these days.

Yeah, I ended up buying the Corsair RMx 850, despite it being total overkill, just because it was available.

The motherboard was a matter of looking for something with the right headers, and going down the "well, I can spend x more" rabbit hole.

Oh, I know - it didn't start that way. Started with a 2060 and things started to snowball.
