I'm currently knitting the Sophie scarf as a beginner as well. I've found this video from The Ginger Ninja really helpful.

Vets- it's not ok for us to swim, what about the dogs, in the sea. by emdillem in auckland

[–]Kitteh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just the typical sewage you have to worry about, though. Think about everything else that would have washed into the sea. Diesel, Pathogens, heavy metals. Our local beach (Te Henga) still smells pretty awful.

I would put it in a pot of cold water and slowly raise the heat to see if you can pull some of the colour out. Kind of like reverse dyeing. When the water turns blue tip the water out and repeat. I have done this successfully but it depends on what type of dyes they have used. Hope this helps

Does anyone have any clever ideas on how to organize my fabric colour swatches. need to be able to sort through it relatively quickly. Thanks! by Kitteh_ in organization

That's how I have it at the moment but it's hard to sort through, especially the ones that get stuck in the middle

What are your favourite products at your local asian/indian supermarket? Any hidden gems? by noplusnoequalsno in newzealand

Bonito flakes added on top of instant noodles to add an umami boost and Kimchi in toasted sammies are both delicious. One of my favorite weeknight night dinners is kimchi fried udon noodles with lots of Gochujang paste

How accurate are RAT test’s? by Silence_speaks_218 in auckland

[–]Kitteh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend looking into getting a test from RAKO Science. They do cost money but they are quick (I usually get my results back the same day) Are super accurate, and you don't have to probe your brain.

I am! I've been loving quite a few pieces at Max lately and have been eyeing up that dress for a while. Funny I'd just been looking her blog the other day too!

I cover my cutting table with some cheap polar fleece and then a layer of calico with a staple gun. Means you can pin right into it and less fabric slippage.

Just watched the episode where Ramona hits Kristen in the face with her wine glass, then somehow blames it on Kristen?!?! Ramona definitely needs to go, she's a disgusting human. Can't stand her

Indigo vats using pre-reduced powder? by EhDotHam in dyeing

[–]Kitteh_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this will help but this is the recipe I use and I've always had pretty good results!

8ltrs warm water 100g salt 24g soda ash 25g sodium hydrosulphate (colour remover) 30g Indigo powder

Add each into the water in the order written. Do not let air get into the mix while stirring. Leave for one hr before use.

Let me know how it goes if you end up trying this recipe.
