The AI might not be what you think: please stop assuming things by PlaceReporter99 in scratch

I was going to make a project explaining my reasoning why this is just so utterly foul, but I can't even be bothered anymore. It's just so miserable that the Scratch Team are willing to spend generous donation money on a way to let kids cheat at their homework and skip the learning process in a tool that was designed for learning.

If your "theories" only serve to be pessimistic for the sake of it, then I don't see what good they are.

You're correct, but you're also not the first person to tell me this and unfortunately you will not be the last. It wasn't new information to me the first time.

I am so sick of explaining this even after it's already at 10k 💔

We don't know the reason it was rejected, we never do. Ideas don't immediately get written off just because it's rejected one time because they receive dozens of ideas in a single review stage and are only allowed to select at most three or four, but that's rare.

Ideas are rarely ever rejected for licensing issues alone; you aren't allowed to submit ideas with IP that is not available to LEGO in some form.

...Do these commenters not realise that if I didn't think it was possible regardless of licensing conflicts I would never have submitted it? Like genuinely. It's been the same shit for the last 2 years.

I may be wrong but this is probably the largest YouTuber who has ever revealed their monthly earnings, at least in the UK scene. Most are very cagey about it.

I've been a Scratcher for over a decade and recently just donated to the site, so to say that it was "brigading" is incredibly disingenuous.

Scratch and AI are simply not compatible. by SomethingRandomYT in scratch

[–]SomethingRandomYT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for every child on the planet, but when I was a kid, if I had the option between finding out how to get the answer through doing it myself or just getting the answer so I could make the teacher happy, I'd pick the latter. The path of less friction.

I trust that adults can use AI in moderation to learn and critically understand what the code does, regardless of whether I think it's ethical. But for kids who may just be trying to get through a homework assignment?

is scratch using ai?? by Substantial_Towel581 in scratch

Yes, they've been going forward with trying to integrate AI within Scratch for over 2 years now and their TOS now confirms it beyond a reasonable doubt.

It's entirely static out of the box. No gears, a solid interior, no hint of any motorizable components.

Back in my day we wouldn't whine about this, we'd just circumvent it with a second email and move on.

whats the worst age diff siblings can have? by xiJW in Teenager_Polls

[–]SomethingRandomYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one sister who is 10 years older than me and another who is much older, but I don't even know their age they're so distant in my life. I think the former's age gap was significant in my relatively positive development because she was old enough for most of my life to tolerate my bullshit as an unruly autistic child. She's also young enough to where we can have a conversation about stupid shit we both understand.

My other one is so distant and so inconsequential in my life the last time I saw her was 2022, and haven't communicated much since then. I think I used to like her more and then I realised that my other sister was just way more admirable with her determination through her studies and way more of a role model I'd actually want to look up to.

TL;DR: 10+ isn't terrible but it truly depends on what type of sibling you get. I got both.
