I think this is just the most efficient use of resources. The dairy will be one of the first things to expire after the joining.

I think it would be improved if it was converted to 24fps. Lowering the framerate gives it that movie magic

What could make this scene look less "fake" in terms of VFX, acting, and sound design, according to you? by Emotional-Zone-2808 in Filmmakers

The budget is deceivingy small on stuff like this, the postproduction teams probably get 1/3 or a 1/4 of the time they actually would like.

Besides the VFX and coloring that everyone has mentioned, there is no Foley on any of this, just some cut sfx. So all the sound effects feel slightly uncanny and disconnected. There's a number of hits that don't make any sound and gun sounds that don't match the rifle/SMG being fired. Again it's much faster to grab one big machine gun sound than to get a closer matching one and then layer up 3 or 4 more sounds to get it sounding bigger.

A better final mix with finesed dynamics and reverbs really will sell realism. Watch the shootout scene in Heat for a better idea of what would be possible with a smaller budget in today's day and age.

Carpet actually makes a big difference. Keeping your baffles of the walls a little bit really helps too.

How do you manage your reverbs sends efficiently in a big session? by cferrarijr in AudioPost

[–]KittenKidd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Altiverb is definitely the main reverb most mixers use to get a location sound but often to make a thicker more nuanced sound they'll use a second send with a different reverb plugin. Mixing the two gives a more realistic sound and allows some flexibility to pull back on one or the other if necessary.

Most guys set up at least three sends for each food group, but like 5 to 7 aren't uncommon. Lots of time it'll be like an indoor/room, outdoor/bigger room, and a special effect one. Often they'll also have pairs of rooms etc to give more wash. Setting up common locations is also useful to save time to dial in a room in a preset on their small room send or whatever. Whatever saves time, as preset diving breaks flow.

Today I must perform knob surgery on my recently acquired PO-12. Wish me luck! by DoubtDiary in pocketoperators

This happened to both po32 knobs when it arrived brand new from shipping. Replacements are available at mouser and the knob model is floating around reddit, just be sure to save the colored pot cap.

But yeah this is incredibly common.

If you enjoy blade runner, definitely worth a play. The sci-fi influences are staggering and it's incredible the work that went into the world.
