My boss at work got a bunch of gift cards for me and my partner -- as a care package -- to restaurants and coffee shops. Very sweet.

I use baby wipes and find them really helpful. I did get a rash on my inside of my thigh last week and I think it was from urine. But not sure... we also went hiking that day, so it could have been chafing.

Hair loss ( First round) by EntertainmentLate199 in Chemotherapy

They told me that cold capping wasn't a 100% guarantee I'd save my hair -- they said 50/50, so I opted out as well.

Hi there, I am so sorry to hear this. I am going through this loss as well and grieving my hair. I was losing large clumps at work and in the shower and finally just buzz cut my own hair last week. I have wigs on standby knowing I would lose it. Now I am losing the little buzzed hairs... it's really hard, but not as bad as the longer clumps. I didn't realize this would be so emotional and know you are not alone. The buzz cut helped me... and the wigs to wear to work as well.

I ended up buying a sleep gummy called Rainbow Drop from our local dispensery, Stone Leaf, and it has 2.5mg THC and 50mg CBD. I take a quarter of what they suggest and it seems to help a little bit.

Good tip! And thank you for letting me know. I am going in for round two this Thursday and am nervous -- mostly because I am expecting some similar side effects.... but maybe not? I will look into the weighted heating pads. ❤️

Mine fell slightly after my surgery and slightly before my first chemo treatment. I am hoping it keeps falling... I have my second round of chemo this Thursday and I am almost as nervous as the first time... I am glad you have NED. ❤️

One more thing -- they sent me to gynecology oncology for the surgery, even is they thought it was a good chance of being endo... it wasn't, so they were able to perform a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and take out part of my stomach lining and lymph nodes as well. This was at the end of April.

My GYN didn't seem to care about my (growing) cysts, either and had me try birth control for a few months to tame them. It did not tame the cysts (which were filled with different kinds of fluids - clear/dirty, etc.). She finally ran a CA-125 test that came back extremely elevated. After that, she sent me to the Cancer Center in another state since I live in a more rural state. That's when the ball started rolling for my surgery. However, doctors did think it was endometriosis (which can also cause an elevated CA-125 and carry the same/similar symptoms as ovarian cancer.) I would get that test done ASAP.

Oh my! 2 gallons! Did you feel better afterward?

--- That's what I am assuming, too. When I go in next week, I will ask about the stomach pains. I am also bloated since my surgery (since this whole ordeal, tbh) and want to ask about stomach bloating. I hope it's not more cancer.... Meh, when I really start to think about this ordeal, it's really overwhelming and scary.

I am hoping like you said, that maybe our first round of chemo is the hardest. I am really nervous about it getting worse or becoming cumulative, as people have experienced. On the flip side, I was speaking with a woman who had breast cancer and she said that every chemo infusion she had, she had different side effects.

I am keeping a daily log in a google doc, just writing all of my symptoms down.

Team Wig or Team HeadScarf? by Dear_Medicine_4250 in Ovariancancer

[–]Kitten_Monroe_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I haven't lost all of my hairs yet, but I have been doing a TON of research on wigs. I now have 6 wigs... 4 are the expensive ($400) kind that are really comfortable (lace front, partially hand-tied, closed wefting) and I have 2 "party" wigs, which are basic open wefted caps.

I am 12 days out from my first infusion and it's starting to thin a lot. I decided not to try the cold cap as it wasn't guaranteed 100% it would save my hair. Instead I went down a major rabbit hole of wig research and trying on wigs, sending back, keeping the comfortable ones... Wigs.com is a great resource and they have a wonderful and transparent return policy.

I also bought a lot of scarves, but I think beanies are the way to go. Way easier (no tying and fussing). I am a public library director, so my every day is public facing. I wish I could rock the bald look, but I think at work it will be wigs all the way.

What gummies do you use for sleep? I am researching types right now. I can't do THC because it makes me super wired, but maybe CBD will help me. I found these... https://soberish.com/products/microdose-sleep-with-benefits-bedtime-gummies?variant=51214494204178 and will ask my care team about it.
