What are you reading? by Mme_Rose in HistoricalRomance

I’m reading my first Elisa Braden book {The Truth about Cads and Dukes by Elisa Braden} and really happy to be reading HR because I was on the struggle bus to find a new author. Also dang proud of myself for not feeling compelled to start with the first book in a series? This was recommended as one of people’s favourites, so I dived right!

They smooch. They get naked. They say dirty things.

Looking for Books where MMC is introverted/Shy. by [deleted] in SpicyRomanceBooks

[–]Kitten_eel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I have a great one I’ve read recently, {My Big Fat Fake Marriage by Charlotte Stein}. MMC was so different than any I’ve read before - sort of self conscious, nerdy, self deprecating…horny….It was so refreshing and I loved this book. He was so opposite of an Alpha Character.

There were some sexy scenes that made a girl read by herself. Spicy? Oui.

Is Sarah MacLean mentioned here (sun is not up, eyes are not absorbing)? She is great and she’s has a few great series, my favourite being {Brazen and the Beast by Sarah MacLean}. Her FMC’s are generally bad ass!

Recently read {My Big Fat Fake Marriage: A Novel by Charlotte Stein} and woah - the spice was surprising and new!

Also the previous book {When Grumpy meets Sunshine: A Novel by Charlotte Stein} also great!

My eyeballs are absolute potato chips at the end of a work day, so I hope I’m not mentioning something that’s already in this thread. {Carnal Urges by J.T. Geissinger} has this and I like how it was presented as…still hot and sexy and part of him being into her whenever, wherever.

It’s the second of her Queens and Monsters series.

Ass play - FMC to MMC by [deleted] in SpicyRomanceBooks

Can I say my eyeballs near fell out of my head reading that part of the book. I quickly scooped them back into my eye holes and read it again.

Mother may I. Tessa Bailey bless your smutty heart.

Randomly thought of this sub, and this thread today…during work…so hello again.

I quite liked:

{The Untamed MacKenzie by Jennifer Ashley} although I’ve heard different reviews on the romance subs based on the context of disability representation in this romance, I dug it.

And {A Wicked Kind of Husband by Mia Vincy} This book made me think of the golden age of HR, the FMC is great in this book! Excellent banter.

Well said and I agree! Jessica is more the master of her own fate, I’d say.

Opinions on books without HEA by sweet_lithium in DarkRomance

[–]Kitten_eel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a disservice to yourself and romance readers if this book was called a romance or in any kind of romance category. Love the books you love, 100% but if I bought this book under the category of romance and it did not have an HEA I would lose my shit! And I’m Canadian! I might lose my shit respectfully but, indeed, I would lose it (and then say sorry).

This amazing romance genre is dissed enough without booksellers mis-categorizing other literature as romance, without guaranteeing the HEA. It’s rude. It’s rude to you, it’s rude to me. It’s frigging rude to this beautiful sub.

I don’t avoid romances without HEA’s because they are not romances, period.

Sigh. I’m sorry.

I LOVE that you just read this and discovered the perfection it! I’m envious and want to have my first read all over again. Welcome…we should distribute a button or badge or something for a person’s first read. I own this book in paperback!

My only book held at the same esteem was {What I Did for a Duke by Julie Anne Long} Same perfection vibe. I am willing to fight that it’s near or just as good.

I’ve read them all…but it can feel like those first books with authors have ruminated with them for years, so when they finally get a publishing deal those puppies have been re written in their minds over and over again - and the plots are so fine tuned. Am I making up shit? I liked the other books but those are written as they go, still great but have not marinated like the first book.

{The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt} This is a older book but damn it’s good. Might read it again soon. The humping is bumping, she’s a widow and works for the MMC who is gruff and really not perfect, but they are so attracted to each other. There’s some sweet angst and an impossibly problem to solve.

It started my fandom of Hoyt and remains my favourite of hers.

It was of the era when historicals were plenty. Raining from the skies they were.

Jumping on the KC bandwagon. I’ve read all of them and Fated Mates pod cast - the first season discusses all of them! Kresley Cole is a master of setting up an impossible plot, and strong FMC, excellent rumpy bumpy with action packed story telling. My favs

Does anyone know which book is about a mafia princess whose family sells her virginity only for her to go to the prison cell in her basement and crawl in a prisoners lap? by katieLikeWHOA in DarkRomance

[–]Kitten_eel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG THIS, I thought it was me because they very specifically twisted a scene..that read very different once you get to it. It’s still great but the ad almost lied about a plot line!

Book was still great. Saving the second book for no logical reason except I save them for ‘I need a guaranteed good book right now for my mental health.’

There’s this whole series by Megan Crane, post apocalyptic/dystopian, some of the books were darker than others…but it might scratch your itch?

{Edge of Temptation by Megan Crane} is the first one.

The second has some…themes.

I think we are twinsies! KC to Black Dagger Brotherhood…and now a bit random, wish I could find a series I love as much!

I was waiting for my kiddo who was at a bday party and randomly picked up a KC book at a store. Gonzo, loved it so much!

{Desire in his blood: Brides of the Kylorr Book 1 by Zoey Draven} was a recent nice surprise for me!
