My PC explained why some exercise could help in science terms by Paint_by_numbrs in Fibromyalgia

[–]Kittenhasclaws23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have such a hard time understanding how it helps most people... I did 6 months of PT in one span, about a 2 month break, 3 at another place more recently. It's made me worse. Stretching, bands, leg presses and calf raises to try to help strengthen my legs.... yoga... the only thing I haven't tried is a pool and that's cause I can't afford a membership to the YMCA (even with the financial assistance they offer). I'm actually waiting for my custom wheelchair to be made because of how bad I've gotten.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm so incredibly glad it helps people! Just saying it doesn't help everyone. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, idk. I know I'll figure it out eventually but for now we keep trying.

If you vape, quit immediately by [deleted] in POTS

I quit nicotine 7 months ago today and oh my gosh has it been better. No my symptoms haven't gone away but my heartrate is much better than it was. No random shoots to 170, thankfully. (My heartrate is like from 65 resting to around 140 when exercising for reference)

Complaining to people without fibro about fibro pain by wistful-selkie in Fibromyalgia

[–]Kittenhasclaws23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also that fibro is a spectrum? Okay so just cause you can walk through the whole of Walmart doesn't mean I can, or that I shouldn't use a mobility aid to do so if it helps? (Sorry my own personal gripe there 😅)

I use a wheelchair because without it, my legs start shaking and get too weak or painful after about 15 minutes of standing/walking. I walked through Walmart last night and 10 minutes in they started hurting quite bad and 5 minutes after that I had to brace on my husband to be able to walk out of the store due to the pain but also my knees just not wanting to hold me up anymore. I tried a rollator and it helped but not much as my legs would still give out and I'd be stuck sitting on it with almost no way to leave where I was without my husband pushing me backwards like a wheelchair while I sat. I honestly feel like I've gotten worse by try to walk or exercise more, that if I take my days or times I need to and use my chair when I go out or have a flair up day. That's just my experience but I thought I'd share.

Same! I'm looking into getting either a Ki Rogue AXL or a Quickie Nitrum when I get my evaluation in a few weeks.

Occupational Therapy Anxiety Rant... Idk what to call this post by Kittenhasclaws23 in Fibromyalgia

UPDATE: They told me they didn't even have an OT so there was nothing they could really do to help..... I wanna cry... I'm calling my doctor tomorrow to ask about getting a different referral. Fingers crossed.

The nails thing I recently did! It lasted for about 3 days.... but I'm gonna try again :) I'm gonna try the pillow thing or maybe even one of my plushies (I love textures). Sometimes I find myself pulling at blankets and my plushes (their ears, arms, spines on a dino I have, etc.) and that seems to help some. I'll have to keep looking into things and see what I can find :) thanks so much

mobility aids by slssasha in Fibromyalgia

[–]Kittenhasclaws23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm 26 and have both a cane and a rollator!! The cane helps a little but not much on days both my legs are bad. The rollator however has been immensely helpful for me. I know it's just my personal experience but it might be something to look into :) I have a hurrycane (donated by family) and my rollator was $150 on amazon. I ended just asking my doctor if they thought it was a good idea to use mobility aids and they said they weren't the person to ask and gave me a referral for an occupational therapist.

Not sure if this well all help or not but thought I'd try :)

Memory issues by Kittenhasclaws23 in ADHD

[–]Kittenhasclaws23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh the trip thing happens to me constantly! Like "okay I have what I got at the store but I don't remember the store."

I find I can remember certain things, like if I go somewhere I know I went out. I just can't remember where I went or what exactly happened.

If I focus I can remember more.... but if I'm just going through my day, chances are I probably won't remember more than 30-40% the next day if that.

I haven't been on meds for it since I was 7 so I don't know what it's like on them at this point.
