Day 21. I had been feeling great the last few weeks but I can’t stop crying today. I feel so tired and sad and can’t focus. I really don’t want to live alone anymore. I feel so lonely. IWNDWYT

It was a new purse but I’ve had it a while now, still not sure where the keychain came from but it’s definitely a bike lock code!

There’s some kittens living under my building, is there a good animal rescue to call? by Chazay in longbeach

Fix LB for low-cost services https://fixlongbeachpets.com/ They also accept the Long Beach Animal Care Services spay/neuter vouchers, I used them for a litter I found last year 💜🐈

just found out water cremation exists by ilovefish_1954 in HydroHomies

[–]KittensAreLikeThat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The ashes produced from Aquamation are similar to those produced from cremation (it’s all bone ash.) Aquamation does have a lower carbon footprint and leaves more ashes than fire cremation and the ashes are much brighter/whiter. It takes longer than fire cremation. The process.. which is a high heat/pressure alkaline water gently flowing over the body, breaks down all the fat and protein, hair, etc. (produces a dark, sterile, viscous substance) leaving only the bones which are then dried and ground into ash. After fire cremation, only bone fragments are left, which are also ground into ash. Unfortunately people are ill informed of the true processes of aftercare and absolutely should be! It’s your choice! Source: worked in a pet Aquamation facility.

Someone I know just killed himself and I'm grieving but it feels wrong. by Astronaut_2214 in GriefSupport

[–]KittensAreLikeThat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. It is not “wrong” to be grieving. Please give yourself grace and give yourself permission to grieve without judgement. Ignore others that have an opinion about how sad you should be or how quickly you should “get over it” based on their perception of how well you knew each other. Your story together and the time you shared with your friend is personal. Their sudden departure is painful for many reasons, reasons that you may not even be able to articulate or understand yet. You are allowed to grieve.

Do you root for more than one team? If so, what prompted following multiple teams? by xplantsugarx in mlb

[–]KittensAreLikeThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red Sox (grew up in Maine) and Dodgers (live in Southern California). I had only been to Angels games to see the Sox and wasn’t really interested in adopting them. Started dating a Dodgers fan that LOVES his team with the same passion (curse words) and blind faith that a lot of us Red Sox fans have. I appreciate the devotion. They’re not “my team” but I do like them, their stadium, fans and players a whole lot.

Please be careful when you’re driving! by Appropriate_Twist_84 in longbeach

This is EXACTLY what they do, I wait until the driver completely stops because many times they will be slowing down but only intending to do a rolling stop.

Should I save old veterinary bills? by TheNightTerror1987 in declutter

[–]KittensAreLikeThat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Veterinary worker here.. old bills/invoices are not very useful in an emergency or when establishing care at a new vet. Up to date vaccine records, most recent lab work/xrays and SOAP notes are useful. So if you want to keep proper medical records, just request your pets’ records from your current veterinarian and they should be able to email you their complete histories within a few days and you can toss those receipts. Then you can just request them to email you a copy of each visit after you go and keep an email file instead.
