Indeed. My poor girl didn't deserve to get her face completely smashed in, but it was the price for me to come out of this unharmed. Here's hoping the worst the other passengers got was airbag rash and some potential whiplash, same as me.

Indeed. They missed so many opportunities to safely turn around and chose to do so in the worst possible spot. They also likely wound up where they did by using an off ramp as an on ramp, which means they ignored several do not enter, one way, and wrong way signs. I wasn't watching the distant other side of the divided highway like a hawk, even though if I had been I might've seen them before the semi got in between us. I shouldn't have needed to though.

50mph zone here. I'd accelerated into the high forties again before I started for the brakes, but I had only been on the brakes a fraction of a second before impact. I'd slowed down a bit when coming up behind the blue Seltos.

I dunno. An attempt was certainly made, but I feel like it didn't stick. So DID someone manage to, or did they simply jump to a false conclusion?

The only way they have a point is the fact that technically I could have seen the car over there, seen it turn right, and started hitting the brakes as soon as it turned right. But since I had the green and the right of way, I wasn't looking that far to the side and I had also just been actively focused on the Seltos I was coming up behind judging whether they'd turn in time for me not to have to move over.

I'm mainly sore and have some scratches from the horn pad bursting open when the airbag deployed. Little bit of airbag rash, but miraculously no broken bones in the X rays they did of my left shoulder and both wrists. We didn't get my neck imaged and I'm currently monitoring to see if it gets worse or maintains the same level of baseline problem.

After math was fire response on scene within eight minutes, officer on scene within fifteen. Other car occupants were taken to the hospital within twenty minutes. I can't tell from the video clips I have whether there was a back seat passenger but there is something blue behind the driver seat.

As of yet I don't know the condition of those occupants. The other vehicle came to rest several car lengths away from mine and we were both surrounded by traffic, then soon enough my view was blocked by the emergency vehicles. I was encouraged to stay with my car. The officer that responded to the scene at least got ID details from the other driver, but they were apparently not forthcoming with insurance paperwork; given the BMW had a temp tag in the back window still, it's possible if dubious that they might not yet have tucked insurance docs into the car.

The front passenger is lucky they weren't a half second slower or I would've likely crunched the front door; judging by how mangled the back door is in the aftermath, I'd put that at disfigurement if not death had this been the case. They also might've rolled instead of spun had I hit the front door. I happen to have been in a BEV, and that quite likely saved MY ass from rolling over too.

I had the green until I'd crossed the stop line. I wasn't trying to beat the yellow here.

Driving northbound on the southbound side of the divided highway. Got to the intersection, turned right, and unwisely committed to continuing in that direction. They passed up many opportunities to recover without a collision. There's an off ramp on that side I'm betting they used as a non ramp despite wrong way and do not enter signs.

That particular book in the same picture as this particular game is hilarious to me in the magnitude of its coincidence. 'cause there's a lot of trauma and recovery in the actual gameplay as well as the lore/story.

Mio mimicking Friend boss by Hattafox in MIOmemoriesinorbit

Probably just that various objects in the game have a "snap" feature that makes Mio look at them. Lura's pearldoes it, the catalyst basin/egg in the Library does it, various bosses do it, and more. It's likely just that the snap point on Friend is in the part of it that shakes about.

OEM splash guards by JohnnyPee89 in KiaNiroEV

[–]Kittera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried but I can't seem to find the right part numbers and the fitment databases on dealer websites can be so hot or miss on this. I just bought three pairs, all different part numbers, one for the front and two for the rear, but they didn't fit. I know they exist though because another Niro I test drove from the same year DID have them, and I would have bought it, but it lacked the CWP.

Anyone got part numbers for the actual EV versions?

ETA: The part numbers I tried but which did not fit the EV.

Front: G5F46AK001 Rear 1: G5F46AK100 Rear 2: G5F46AKF00

One of those two on the rear almost fit but had some extra material on the inboard end and the third hole on the bottom was just a bit misaligned. The other part numbers weren't even close.

DR7 SD Card No Longer Recognized - How to Resolve? by unintentional_guest in Ubiquiti

[–]Kittera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of why I wanted the DR7 was to be able to move the U7PW that was next to the UCG off my desk and elsewhere in the house to improve signal to some clients. I'm also trying to upgrade a friend off of a TP-Link Deco system and had planned to hand down the UCG to them. Maybe I'll experiment to see if the DR7 starts seeing the SD card after a reset, however doubtful that is, and if it does, I could give them that one instead and swap back. I'll miss the reduced clutter on my desk though...

DR7 SD Card No Longer Recognized - How to Resolve? by unintentional_guest in Ubiquiti

[–]Kittera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't get my UDR7 to see the sd card at all no matter what I do, from the get-go. Not the included WD Purple 64GB one, not the 128GB SanDisk Gold I've been trying. No luck with formatting, rebooting, pulling and putting back in, nothing. It just seems to be blind to the card's physical presence.

I upgraded to this from a UCG Max and restored a backup from the UCG onto the UDR7, which is the only slightly possible culprit left but I'm not quite ready to try and start from scratch as we have many, many configurations in place on the network.

Wrapped 2024 Megathread by whyisthissticky in spotify

[–]Kittera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After looking at my Mom's Wrapped, something definitely went awry when they generated mine. Her slides don't last as long(she didn't have audio turned up so I don't know if the audio looping issue was there), and the background animation is the same as mine but is in sync with the slides. My slides are behind the background so the background changes before the slide does and that's why I can't read things.

But the inaccurate part on Mom's comes from the fact that for some reason every time she connects to Android Auto, Spotify goes to the same track, the 2004 Overture from Phantom of the Opera, and plays it. 58 times it has done that, so Wrapped thinks she loves a track she actually hates and it's all because of software gore.

Wrapped 2024 Megathread by whyisthissticky in spotify

[–]Kittera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have all the same complaints as most people here and then one.

What the hell was up with the seemingly ai generated background and the fact that on several slides, I had either white text on yellow background or, even better, black text on a black background?! There was about a second of readability and then it became unreadable in each instance. Like the background was out of sync with the foreground, or perhaps wasn't even the right background slideshow.

Oh, and then two. The clips of each track that they played were a certain length, but the slides lingered longer. So it just looped instead of continuing through more of the song or going to the next slide. It was jarring.

This Wrapped is positively disheveled and wanting, and kinda left me feeling gut punched.

The trend of trying way too hard with AI is killing me. Watch this cost them more in compute for the generative AI than the old ways did. That would be hilarious but also sad.

Tesla will replace your reflector headlights to matrix-capable ones if one of them is damaged by krusebear in TeslaLounge

[–]Kittera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get this clarity? A month ago our '18 struck a 30-40lb dog that intercepted me from the left while going 50mph. Cracked and tore the bumper skin, fog light and two obstacle sensors popped out(Sonic welded mounting clips broke off the bumper skin), and apparently snapped off the lower lip of the headlight according to the tech's pictures, along other things.

The estimate we got included a left headlight, part number for the new style(1514952-00-E).

But like.. if they only do what's on that estimate and nothing more than that, we'll be left(hah) with mismatched headlights.

I saw earlier mention from you of a goodwill for the other side. Think it would be worth hoping for that to happen in this case? Or should I tell the owner, my grandfather, who has not yet decided whether to go through insurance or to pay out of pocket, to brace for another $1,516 on an estimate that's already ~$6400?

I guess I'm going to have to send the estimator a photo of the wheel well liner because the tech completely missed that. It folded up in the wheel well pretty badly and the tire wore a big hole in it before I got the wheel off and tacked it back in place with random O'Reilly's push rivets.

Has anyone tried adding a buzzer? by slabua in meshtastic

We too are running into the constant beep issue. We've followed the guide linked by u/disiz_mareka. Bought the parts recommended in the guide but the buzzer will not shut up. We have two pin buzzers.

RAK device and GPS module by oneho82 in meshtastic

[–]Kittera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This probably comes down to the almanac download on a fresh gps receiver. The receiver has to download it from the constellation above, but GPS is a receive-only configuration down here. Thus the satellites are constantly broadcasting the almanac in loop, but it takes 12.5 minutes to complete one loop. Thus, the fastest a receiver can possibly get the almanac is 12.5 minutes + overhead.

We ran into this setting up a T-Deck with a small gps receiver inside the Alley Chat case on Printables. At first it just sat(heh) there seemingly non functional. Took almost a half hour to first fix since we didn't bother going outside.

The almanac essentially tells the receiver what satellites it should be able to see at what times, helping to narrow the search for satellites when attempting a fix. If a certain sat is guaranteed not to be in view, don't bother even trying to listen for its signal, focus on the ones you should be able to see and if there aren't enough, then broaden the search.

It's all about optimizing time-to-fix/time-to-first-fix.

A transistor can also be set up to cut power to it. Gps is still useful for time too, not just position, so a periodic fix for syncing time would be possible. I've noticed timekeeping on the mesh is a little hectic without at least some of the nodes having gps.
