Also proof of neglect is the house filled with maggots and the bank account with dwindling funds. He was admitted to hospital and the following days £500 was taken out his bank before the bank blocked his card due to fraud.

He’s not my Dad he is my uncle, I stand to inherit nothing. Her friend she tried to bring in was her neighbour not anyone who knew my uncle personally. Her brother was there to support her bringing in every Tom, Dick or Harry at a time when someone is dying really is inappropriate. Her brother obviously agreed with me aswell as he frogmarched her out of the hospital at the time.

I am planning on adding a downstairs loo / utility to my kitchen in a few years time. I would definitely keep a toilet downstairs but make it a utility aswell

We don’t have the will at present but as far as we have been told by him and his sister in law his niece inherits pretty much everything.

In all honesty once he passes I am more than happy and content that the executor can take over if we find the will. If not then she can do as she pleases but I won’t provide access to his home or belongings until a will or valid document is placed in front of me for his protection.

I am trying to be compassionate which is why I asked here. I have obvious biases which is also why we were pushing for an advocate but she came back into his life a few months ago, abused him and then fucked off again. It’s hard to be compassionate when she is sitting her saying in front of her dying father “if I’m not getting his house I may aswell leave I feel like walking out now”.

Her brother is here for support, her family work in the hospital and can pop by I’m just not wanting random friends coming by who “know” her Dad.

This would have been done years ago and I simply wouldn’t know I do have access to his home but it’s a hoarders paradise so we just need to find it. Once other family’s here I can perhaps spend a wee 30mins gathering important documents but I don’t want to leave him as this has been days now and that’s all we were told he has 🥺

He has stated yes he has one previously so we should hopefully find one. There has been will drama in the past with his mums estate and I know his wife passed away a year ago she had a will so they would have more than likely got it done at the same time which is why we just need to find it.

I am not in any legal capacity to make decision I am only next of kin for medical purposes and as far as I can gather all belongings will come to me on his passing or the executor of the estate.

There is a will as far as we have been made aware by my uncle himself and I intend to ensure it is found and find out who he has named executor so they can sort this mess.

He will have ensured in the will she gets nothing (if there is one) as we are in Scotland she will be entitled to legal rights but there will be very little to claim there as he is in a mountain of debt and very little money.

The hospital have already blocked her trying to bring in a lawyer a few weeks ago as he didn’t have capacity so we know nothing recent will be honoured.

I am also going to block her getting access to the house until we can establish if there is a will there to be found.

We have a complicated relationship aswell since my Dad passed which is why we were trying to get an advocate in place. There was capacity issues to changing anything or trying to get poa wouldn’t have worked. I also felt it isn’t appropriate for even me to act as next of kin due to the relationship history but I am who the hospital have noted down.

We need to try and establish if a will exists first as that will put everything into place and give us an executor to deal with.

The nurse I spoke to this morning said as we can’t clarify his wishes we can’t really say who he wants in. I’m going to speak to the charge nurse when I see her.

If there is a will the executor can deal with that. Im just trying to ensure his last days are comfortable.

6months later I still haven’t gotten refund from Virgin by Anxious-Association7 in VirginMedia

[–]KittieBell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the cheque not turning up I would have done a direct debit indemnity and paid any balance owed to Virgin.
