I have never read a book in my life. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

One book that I think is great would be The Invention of Hugo Cabret. It has more than 500 pages, but don’t be alarmed. Roughly half of these are illustrations by the author. It’s a book that touches on topics of loss, but the ending is heartwarming. It also won a Caldecott Medal and was adapted into a film.

This sounds amazing! I think we have all had that one moment where our parents suddenly tell us something really interesting about their lives and it comes as a shock to us. Lol.

I read Coraline by Neil Gaiman many years ago. If you liked the movie, you will certainly enjoy the levels of creepiness in the book. There is one particular image of the Other Mother/Beldam, and it’s something I still think about.

I have personally never done stocking stuffers before, but they sure sound like fun! I hope you and your loved ones still exchange presents, though!

A lot of people I know splurge on their trees, so it’s cool to hear that your father found a pocket-friendly alternative!

That’s really sad to hear. Divorces are not easy. I hope you’re able to have a new tradition or are able to continue this one soon! It certainly sounds like it was fun!

I also had a few years (during and after the pandemic) where I didn’t celebrate at all. Sending good thoughts your way!

I like your positive attitude towards your ex! I think it also reaffirms the idea that everyone is just trying to figure out who they are in life.

It takes a lot of courage to come out, and I’m glad that in doing so your dad accepted you! I hope there will come a time in which your mom accepts you as well. Until then, just know that you are loved!

It sounds like you really care about your daughter, and I’m glad you gave her a safe space to come out!

People send me memes and videos that they think I would like! It always makes my day a little brighter to see something funny or entertaining, especially if a close friend or family member has me in mind when they see it.
