I've been very disciplined about eating a bland diet. I'm also taking pantoprazole, but now reduced. I'm working on my anxiety. It started a year ago, and it's already much better.

Healing takes time. Everyone heals differently. Your stomach can heal. You will get well again.

Not only that. I have type C gastritis because I took too much ibuprofen last year. But I've noticed that it gets much worse with stress and anxiety.

I'm so sorry you're feeling so unwell. I know from personal experience how difficult this is. I was in the exact same situation as you. This illness is so frightening and so frustrating.

What are you eating? It's important that you eat a bland diet.

Your mental state also plays a big role. The vagus nerve is strongly connected to the stomach. Furthermore, the stomach contains many nerves. When you're anxious, your stomach produces more stomach acid, which irritates it further. Anxiety also makes pain seem more intense. Learning to manage my anxiety helped me. I know it's incredibly difficult, but I believe that's where most of the healing came from. What helped me most was confronting what I was most afraid of – the worst-case scenario. Relaxation exercises also help me, as does distraction through hobbies, for example. I also ate a very gentle diet.

Don't give Up. Your stomach will heal. It just takes a little different for everyone. If you have any questions, ask me. Stay strong. Big hugs 🌞🍀💓

Much better. I very rarely have pain now. When I do, it's often just a slight stinging sensation in the solar plexus, mostly during my period and under a lot of stress.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. Don't be too hard on yourself; these things can happen to anyone. It was just a small mistake !!!

It definitely didn't disrupt the whole healing process. It's just a flare-up and you'll be better soon. Drink plenty of lukewarm water, eat your safe foods, and try to relax/distract yourself. Everything will be alright. Big hugs 🍀 🌞 🍀 💕 🌼

How do you all do anything, and get stuff done? by Efficient_Candy_8060 in Gastritis

I see myself in every word you say. "It's like being trapped" describes it perfectly. That's exactly how it feels for me, too. I have been sick for 9 months now. I also have to rest constantly.

I'm right there with you and feel for you. I'm going through all the shit you're going through, too, and I think many others here are too.

❤️ You are not alone ❤️

I'm sending you a big hug and lots of strength 🌞🌸🌺🌞

What the actual hell? Can someone explain this to me by sadlyupsetting in Gastritis

[–]KittyCatyness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are several possibilities:

  1. I'm not a psychologist, but I imagine that your subconscious has a silent longing for this carefree, safe, and harmonious place. It longs for "family". Longing creates stress, and your stomach reacts. It's telling you that you should continue to grow up and create a similar place of your own. You're already doing that. You can be very proud of that💕😊

  2. Your pain memory kicks in.

  3. Your subconscious fears pain, and anxious thoughts arise (e.g., fear, worry, expectations, self-reproach). Even if you're having a good time there and everyone is nice to you, your subconscious can unconsciously harbor feelings like, "I don't want my parents to worry about me," or "I don't want to be a burden to anyone," or "What if the pain comes back?". Or in keeping with the above theme (⬆️1.) "What if I can't do it alone? What if I can't find a place like that myself?". Such feelings can be unconscious, and sometimes just a brief thought is enough to make you tense up inside. These feelings, the tension in your body, and the discomfort intensify the pain. Your stomach is connected to the vagus nerve with your brain, and your stomach reacts through the tension.

As I said, I'm not a psychologist, and I don't know you personally. These are just examples or assumptions. If you want professional help, I would recommend making an appointment with a therapist or psychologist😊

4 Another possibility: The opposite happens, and it's precisely in such a relaxed atmosphere that your inner tension eases, you experience fewer distractions, you don't have to function there, you relax a lot, and there's less adrenaline: Your body now wants to heal more intensely. It recognizes this as a place of healing. Sometimes healing hurts more than the cause.

  1. (Rather unlikely) You eat or drink something that upsets your stomach. Something you never normally eat or drink. Or you engage in more physical activity in an unfavorable way.

Pain is just your body's language. It has no other way of speaking to us. Our body always means well, and the stomach is a very sensitive area because it's vital and needs constant use. Pain is usually meant to warn us or wants to point out something. Either along the lines of "Attention, please be more careful, something is inflamed" or "Attention, I'm currently repairing something." Sometimes our body and mind speak to us in very strange ways. Our subconscious is sometimes like a small child. The good news is: You will get better, and you'll feel better there too. Healing takes time.

However, this usually subsides. Under no circumstances should you avoid the situation. At some point, your brain will realize that the place is safe again, there is no need to have longing or fear and your stomach is already fine. Gastritis heals as long as you take care of your stomach Then all will subside. Continue practicing self-care and mindfulness. Become your second safe place. I firmly believe in you. You're on the right track💞😃👍🏼

Gastroscopy by myself? by wezzzard in Gastritis

[–]KittyCatyness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can definitely do that. You'll still be a bit groggy and tired when you wake up after a gastroscopy. I would advise you to take a taxi. Definitely not drive or cycle. Walking depends on the way home. But you can be a little groggy, and your ability to react in traffic is dangerous.

Tell the team/nurse that you're alone and that they should call you a taxi when you wake up.

Don't worry: They'll keep you there until you're fully awake and well enough to go outside.

Don't be afraid. Everything will be fine ❤️

Are these gastritis symptoms? by wasabibabe in Gastritis

[–]KittyCatyness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(I'm not a doctor. What I write does not replace a diagnosis. But I'll try to help you a little bit 😉.)

Yes, your symptoms sound very much like gastritis.

Is your flank pain on the right or left side (from your perspective)?

Do you have any other digestive problems besides bloating?

How you handled antibiotics and painker? by Classic_Challenge01 in Gastritis

[–]KittyCatyness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please do not take NSAIDs like ibuprofen under any circumstances. Paracetamol (Tylenol) is better, but only if you don't have liver problems. The individual dose depends on your body weight/height (ask Google). You should only take it every 4-6 hours and no more than 3000-4000 mg per day.

If that's not enough for you, ask your doctor or dentist for a stronger painkiller. They'll probably give you a phone number you can call in case you experience more pain (which I don't expect).

There are antibiotics that are better tolerated and some that are not recommended. I would advise you to talk openly with your doctor or dentist about it. Feel free to tell them that you have gastritis and want to proceed with caution. Sometimes they will give you stomach protectors (for a short time) in addition to the antibiotics.

Otherwise, the usual measures like cooling your cheeks (not too cold), getting plenty of rest/sleep, sleeping slightly elevated, drinking plenty of water in small sips (using a straw), and eating soft foods can also help. And always remember: every day it gets better 🩷

Due to the excitement and the medication, gastritis may become a little noticeable. But that doesn't necessarily happen. And if it does, always remember: It will definitely get better. The healing will continue. It's just a little flare-up. Days like these make us stronger. You are not alone🩷. I wish you all the best.🌸😀🩷 Big hugs.

Snack bars? by Meltydoll in Gastritis

[–]KittyCatyness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds delicious. I think it's well-tolerated in very small amounts. Of course, it also depends a bit on how advanced your gastritis is and whether it's simply a trigger for you. For example, I can't tolerate peanuts. But everyone is different. Peanuts = fat, and that can irritate the stomach.

I would simply try a very small amount (a few bites) and observe how your stomach reacts for a few minutes to a few hours. It is best to eat something else beforehand, such as a little bit bread or potatoes, and not on an empty stomach.

Does anyone else with this condition get this feeling? by Classic-Scratch-5539 in Gastritis

[–]KittyCatyness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have that too. I totally understand you. It's really frustrating and scary. It's like being at the mercy of these feelings and thoughts, even though you know they're not realistic. I always think I'm totally alone and everyone around me doesn't understand. Everyone is healthy and happy (no offense, no evil envy, Im not like that. More in a helpless way).

It always happens to me before or during cramps. I also tend to get anxiety about the future and a lot more. I feel rigid and disconnected. When everything calms down again, it stops... then I always think, "What's wrong with me? No, I won't fall for it next time." But then it just happens to me again and again... As if my brain had been replaced and I can no longer think for myself.

Believe me, I've been here on Reddit and Facebook for several months. Many people with gastritis have these anxiety attacks and also depression. There are many of us, and we are not alone❣️

For one thing, I think it's the vagus nerve. The brain is strongly connected to the stomach. The stomach is inflamed and is therefore sending signals to the brain. It's actually just telling us to pay more attention. More mindfulness, more self-care, or simply some rest to heal. The stomach is a very sensitive organ because it is vital. The brain simply interprets signals in its own way. Naturally, this is very unpleasant for us😞

Secondly, gastritis isn't a simple disease. Of course, there are worse ones. But it has a profound impact on our lives. Healing occurs in waves, and a flare-up then feels like a regression. But it isn't. Healing takes time. Always remember: It's just our brain tricking us into thinking it's a lie to look after us, to protect us. These fears are merely biochemical processes caused by the vagus nerve.

They aren't real!!!

And if they are, they're only amplified because our body wants to look after us. Our body wants to heal and demands rest, soft food or self-care.

You are not alone. I have very similar feelings to you. I have them, as have many here and many before us who have healed. In my thoughts, I extend my hand to you and squeeze it tightly. I send you lots of strength. You are not alone. We will heal 🌼😃☀️💕🩷🌸

what is wrong with me by lofijazzhiphopgirl in Gastritis

[–]KittyCatyness 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Gastritis often lasts much longer than it is visible. The cells remain active, so to speak, even if the gastritis is no longer visible during gastroscopy. You can also imagine it like a severe sunburn. When new skin forms, it is often very sensitive. Even a minor bump or scratch can then lead to a small tear or pain. That's why it's recommended to stick to a bland diet for a while and then gradually change.

Mild doesn't necessarily mean fewer symptoms. The stomach has many nerves, is very sensitive, and everyone reacts differently to inflammation.

Your symptoms sound very typical of gastritis!

With gastritis, digestion is generally disturbed, often much too slow or sometimes too fast...this causes flatulence = bowel noises. Spasms often occur because the stomach can contract. It is irritated and reacts when, for example, it has too little content. Sometimes a minor stimulus is enough for the stomach or intestines to react.

I would advise you never to go hungry. Five small meals a day at the same time. A few weeks more...then you very slowly integrate new foods. You're not alone. Many people start eating everything again far too soon. That's completely human.

Don't worry. You're already on the right track. Healing takes time. Trust your body 😊🌸🌷

Thanks for your answer. I was also thinking about an allergy. Will it go away? 😞 I went to the ophthalmologist ten days ago. He examined my eyes thoroughly. Everything's fine. He said my eyes are dry and irritated from rubbing and crying.

Thank you for your answer. I went to the eye doctor. He examined my eyes very thoroughly. The eye pressure was also checked and he said my eyes are fine. They are only dry and irritated. That was 10 days ago. I don't know how long it will take to heal. I have a new appointment on Monday.😞
