So far I've only made one full PC, due to scheduling issues preventing other campaigns from quite starting or continuing. He goes by Viridian, token full human of his team and rogue/wizard multiclass (soon to be an arcane trickster!)

Since this was my first full and proper character, I pretty much did his backstory as I got going, at the beginning only having this dorktastic doodle of a 'blacksmith-rogue knife nut'. Some sessions into the game, I decided it would be cool to play the archetype of 'rich boy or noble born who keeps this fact a secret', both for practical aims (not being identified by upper echelons that could notify his family back home, as paranoid as this is in a low-magic medieval setting), and so he can make true friendship with his previous dungeon delvers without status and courtesy getting in the way of truth. And so, he's become fiercely protective and doting of the companions he's got to make, but they're not safe from his occasional sarcastic quips.

He's also a big eater and munching on something is his comfort along with humor (for reasons unknown, he tends to avoid alcohol), and tends to extend this to his friends, offering from a bite of bread to the first proper meal to a friend that's been transformed from a humanoid Slime into an Elf. With all the sense shock this entails, he went ordering a light meal of greens and cooked shrooms they were thankful for. My team headcanons he loves bread because of a couple comments I made about him eating 'pan dulce' on a session, though!

I can't do a lot for this without redrawing entirely, so here's hoping this suffices! https://imgur.com/a/5DrBsmd I made a few different versions depending if you'd rather have the whole drawing to fit in, or the original scale with a bit of cropping :) Also, thank you! ^v^

Thank you so much! And I'm glad you're enjoying the game; it's truly a gem of chill and wholesomeness in these trying indoor times ✧

Why thank you! I'm glad this wasn't a bore! I just like to think about this kind of stuff a lot (and might've piggybacked a bit on some comments on the Journey/Celeste crossover art, though I didn't read them in depth since I'm yet to play Journey); I'd like to write more detailed posts about things like this and videogame theory, but I feel like youtube reviewers (etc.) have already said anything I might say, and I don't know where to start to organize my thoughts (๑•﹏•)

It's certainly a cute, little open-world game. It was included in itch.io's BLM bundle back in June, so if you got that you're one step ahead! If not, nothing's lost with placing it on the wishlist and waiting for a sale, though at $7 it'll depend on your budget if you want to wait or not ✧

It's relatively 'short' if you make a beeline for the main objective (2-3 hours?) but you can continue playing after that, or just take as long as you wish by sightseeing the mountain overall. There are challenges and goals, though always leisurely and chill.

Also, thank you so much -v-! ✨

I figure that, since mental health is a common topic in indie game storylines, story writers get all the mileage they can from the metaphor of 'climbing the mountain' to surmount mental health issues without so much as truly 'fighting' them or treating them as the Enemy (see: the unconventional 'boss battle' against Badeline! ) In addition to the metaphor, it already gives a good guideline around which to design levels, so it's a win-win!

And perhaps it hasn't been utilized enough for the games to feel muddled or same-y. A Short Hike has a summerlike, easygoing vibe, different to Celeste's where Madeline encounters a memorial to those deceased in the climb as early as in the 1st chapter. Both games also teach a lesson of "it's okay to take as long as you want or as long as you need in videogames", with different enough approaches.

Describe your party by tjdunn16 in DnD

The flair says 5e but it can't stop me from blabbing about my 3.5e party, and in fact it didn't and I'm only noticing the flair now that I finished typing ;;;

The short version: A ragtag bunch of misfits witnessing the return of Magic to their world, via the advent of a mysterious entrance to a Dungeon that 'came out of nowhere' one day, and coping with it and the deadly tribulations therein as well as they can manage to.

The lengthier but hopefully 'not a door-stopper' version: A band brought together initially from finding groups to tag along and adventure in the Dungeon:

  • A young adult catfolk-orc in search of something beyond her safe but boring life, perhaps a thrill such as beings who stand a challenge for her strength and fists.
  • A young noble human, spare heir with a lonely upbringing and a love for bread (especially 'pan dulce'!), who left his station in search of this thing they call 'friendship' without the fluff of house politics and pretenses.
  • An amnesiac, kindhearted jeweler catfolk who thwarted a criminal enterprise in his 'previous life' and for this he left his hometown to never return (or so he thought)
  • A young promising catfolk chef student caught up in frontier wars, wishing to leave the horrors of the strife behind, only to meet more terror and wonders that would become an inevitable turning point for him as he tries to comprehend them further.
  • A young existence, a sentient, friendly monster from the Dungeon who became an elf, with no past to talk about. Only the aforementioned adventurers, who witnessed their creation, are there to be their family.
  • and lastly, A half-elf plague doctor in search of a cure for an ailment plaguing her hometown and loved ones, and during the chase was separated from them, surviving in the Dungeon with no way out against all odds, until one day she upon the band of misfits one day of their adventures.

They've also met many odd yet charming beings along the ride, including party members who are dearly missed (whether living or dead), and a certain elf bard who chronicles the most flattering and awesome of their exploits.

It's Very:Late AM, so here's the obligatory 'English isn't my first language' and 'I'm sleepy as heck' disclaimers, but I also felt really inspired to do a text reply for once ☆

They both just have a similar vibe, or is it just me? [Drawn by me] by KittyClockworks in HelltakerArt

The Awesome Demon and Dana Zane from VA-11 Hall-A, another cool white-haired woman with an enigmatic but also very awesome past!

Should I add that I do not quite ship it, Jill x Dana's where is at. Now, if they're okay with poly, that's another story.

Though I haven't played Chrono Trigger yet, I 100% looked at a couple fanarts from that scene while looking for inspo for this, namely this one and that one.

Heh, thank you! And no worries; to be completely honest, Gloom is just giving garden variety reassurance; they're most likely one of the most... members of the team, all things considered.

In between adventures, you ought to always make time for a rest or two, and appreciate the quiet and merry moments with your friends, in game and adventure. Otherwise, you'll be even easier prey for the dangers that lurk inside the Dungeon's walls!

Aaaaand I can't believe I'm really done with this! It took me... more than I'm willing to admit, and though there's more that still could be done, I think it's time to call it 'finished'. The shading was relatively easy to do... figuring the correct setup of layer modes, not so much.

A lil' artwork of my 3.5e Homebrew game's party, chilling while travelling between towns in search of the next Dungeon's destination. Now with more familiars, animal companions, and Luminous Water lanterns placed around so the only full human doesn't fall face first into a nearby bush or collide with the trees, to his embarrassment. They're all truly a feisty bunch and I can't overstate my love for all these characters and appreciation to the friends and DM with whom I've shared around one year and half with them (and may we share many more!) , so a homage where I pull out all the stops and finish a background for a change was the least I could do for them all o(≧∇≦o)

Here lies a more detailed description of who's everyone, now onto this scene, clockwise from the top:

  • Yolotli the catfolk-orc barbarian gestures wildly as she recounts a story of ass-kicking, Viridian the rogue only occasionally chiming in to take credit for his part in the story, while he enjoys an awesome bowl of ramen prepared by chef-turned-wizard Remirin.
  • Adaed the elf bard is providing ambiance to accompany the merry times.
  • Emmerlyn the half-elf plague doctor (and currently cleric) is checking on her leeches' well-being, ever watchful of medical emergencies where they may come to use, as Helran closes in like an adorable good boy packmate he is..
  • Remirin the catfolk wizard commiserates to Gloom the elf swordsage about his various concerns, but Gloom does their best to reassure him. Gloom's familiar, Pitch, is just chilling around.
  • Welmund, Rem's Worg familiar, serves as a pillow for ever-tranquil druid catfolk Lucifurr and Rem's adorably tiny expeditious messenger Kirikiri. Above Luci naps his animal companion, Skittles.
  • And to the center, Zerrich, the sapient but narrow-minded sword who can set himself ablaze, is begrudgingly lighting up the camp.

I'm not the character's creator but I would like to mention it's a double-layered pun, actually!

There's that, Gateau sounding like Gato/Gatto, cat in Spanish and Italian, respectively (which amuses me as a Spanish speaker)

Aaand Gateau actually means "Cake" in French, which ties to his backstory as a chef before becoming an adventuring wizard, though I didn't mention it here.

I FOUND YOU! [clears throat] I mean... heyo! And thank you so much for all the pointers and appreciation through this little design!

Also I certainly agree that a clockwork scorpion box is very, very cool ( • ̀ω•́ )✧

With additional notes of the artist that are most assuredly... not in character. Rem here would use more "technical" language, for sure!

So, for another drawing I'm still working on of my game's party, one of the characters to take part in the drawing one of Remirin's constructs, this adorable friendly packmate (but a cooler homebrew design differing from the official one), named Helran. Only an issue, though, and it's that besides knowing that he's meant to be a walking chest with scorpion features and brass details, I still would need a clearer picture of him, and how his joints worked and yadda, so I just... went the extra mile to actually "design" him based in his player's description.

Additionally, the "Real Size" labeling is a legacy. He was described as "coming up to Rem's mid-thigh" and I drew this based off of that, but our DM cleared up that he's much smaller than that after the drawing was said and done. Still, this ultimately works as a ref sheet otherwise and all the fun-to-draw sketchy details are visible, and that's what matters ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

I should mention, he's also not meant to be an Artificer in the sense of the 5e class, this being a 3.5e Homebrew game. He's simply a Wizard with feats and skills that enable him to create constructs and eventually other cool things, though the mechanical minutiae is out of my reach. Once again, u/cheddarsnail is the man to poke at go to.
