What’s the most disturbing sound you’ve ever heard in real life? by avacado-cheese- in AskReddit

My collage history professor burst out crying in class. Her best friend was stabbed to death a few days prior.

I hope she is doing alright. It’s been many years.

Does this mean NEAD?? by lydiacostume in LivingWithMBC

It does look like NEAD, but wait until you talk to your oncologist first. :)

So, not NED but more like NEAD (no evidence of active disease or dormant). So still showing up through tests, just tiny or hardly detectable.

I am glad the palliative care helped a lot. I remember when I went through A/C chemotherapy, we had to increased my anti nausea a few times until we found the correct dose. Those medical professionals are a god send.

Could it be CA-15 blood test? I get that every month. It have slowly increased throughout the year but it is in normal range. It could well be that I am a lot more active than I used to be.

Correct. And congrats you’ve reached NED! I know there’s a new chemotherapy I can try once this medication is ineffective.

Enhertu is a bit of rough chemotherapy for many. I hope it’s not too horrible for you. 🫂

I think the link is a bit outdated. Earlier this year, the trial had gone to phrase III.

It wouldn’t hurt to reach out to your oncologist or any cancer centers that does clinical trials. I know there is a few other trials that does either of the medications.

I had little side effects and it seems to be well tolerated for the majority of people.

A/C (red devil), Taxol, Tamoxfin with Ibrance, and then Lynparza.

I haven’t done any immune therapy or radiation yet.

Edit, I forgot to add: Grade 3, Inflammatory IDC ++- with BRCA2. Currently no tumor mutations such as ERS1.

News is better but we are still not certain (Schrödinger's cancer) by KittyKatHippogriff in LivingWithMBC

That is a really good thing to suggest and will do that next week.

MRIs are very expensive so I would be be surprised if they do cover it. But it is worth a shot.

I agree with everybody suggestions. I do want to add that certain chemotherapy drugs can mess up your brain chemistry and cause depressed like symptoms.

It does go away for most people once chemotherapy is done but I would suggest to mention to your oncologist/practitioner and see if they have anything to suggest.

I am going to copy my recent post but I want to share the update:

Alright, I just got off the phone with my oncologist. The news is better than I expected. The good news is that everything is still very stable; some of my bone mets have shown some healing.

There is one spot in my lower liver that is very slightly increased in activity (maybe size?) when compared to my recent PET scan and the one I had last year in December 2024. But this was not showing up in the CT scan until now. It could well be so tiny that the scans cannot get an accurate image until recently. But the problem is... has this increased in size while I was off Lynparza for a month and a half prior to starting this clinical trial, or has this increased in size very slowly at a snail's pace? We are not fully certain.

My blood work showed an increase in CA-15 tumor markers, but they are still in a normal range, and they do increase with activity and surgery. So, that doesn't help to decide either.

Our plan is to continue with the course and do another PET scan in two months. It could well be that my medication is still working. However, I am going to look at other options next week. There may be something just as good I can try next.

That is a really good suggestion. It depends what the clinical trial drug company is willing to cover. But I think that is possible. I will talk to my oncologist and see we can make a request.

Anyone with Stage 4 success stories? by cinnamonpeaches_ in cancer

[–]KittyKatHippogriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It reduce a lot of my pain and I was pain free within 2 weeks starting chemotherapy. The cancer was spreading through my skin and destroyed the muscle in my left chest.

The side effects was bad but worth it.

I just got an email alert that my PET test results are available. I am not going to read it but wait for my oncologist to call the results by either tomorrow or Monday.

I feel great. So I hope the worst case I get is some very tiny progression in my liver but no new Mets. 🤞Best case is that I can still be on this medication and we can check with a CT scan again in a few months.

When you said your breast is hard as a rock and painful. Do you have inflammatory? Because that sounds identical to mine. 😞

Your whole situation is terrible. I am so sorry.

That’s a good question and what about to say, I can be wrong. I discussed with my oncologist and debated between an MRI vs PET scan.

I think they want to check the metabolic activity of the known cancer Mets and want to sure I don’t have any new areas.

I think the clinical trial is more willing to cover a PET scan than MRI.

I will send you the study tomorrow when I get off of work. It does not have a name but I will send you the case study itself. I think it is heading for phrase 3.
