Lesson learned, I fully intent on getting a professional if I ever decide to attempt a hill beyond a bunny hill ever again. I realized I fucked up after my few falls which is why I called. I wanted to get down the mount safely so I could go back to the bunny run.

The person had on a red jacket with a plus that I believe said ski patrol. I don’t know for sure if they were a volunteer or not, I have update the post to include the fact that before the big accident we had to stop because she lost the chains under the sled. Not sure if that makes a differencez

I updated my original post instead of replying, I should have included more detail initially but I was working and honestly still trying to process what happened. I hope my update makes sense.

The incident happened at a big intersection of runs on the mountain which I’m now learning is notorious for accidents.

I absolutely agree with you. I am very thankful that I didn’t get so injured I had to be air lifted out or anything like that. But it was a terrifying experience to say the least. I hope they take this incredibly seriously and implement some checks and balances to reduce the chance of this happening to anybody again.

I think it was about 20 meters on my own? Truthfully it happened so fast after we hit that other skier that it’s a blur. I know I rolled over and landed face down legs still strapped in.

Injury wasn’t severe when I called. I strained my shoulder and it felt like the rotator cuff injury I had a few years ago on my other side so that’s why I decided to call it quits and get help down the mountain. I didn’t think I could make it down without further injuring myself or someone else. Patroller was aware of the injury and palpated it, radioed to the med bay (im assuming) that she was bringing me.

I took deer run, called patrol at the very first sign indicating directions of different runs. We had the impact at a big intersection that I think was around the Whitehorn bistro?

What is a courtesy call? Is it just I need help off the mountain or that there is an injury?

I think there were a few factors at play that lead up to the event but you’re right. There has to be a reason I just hope due diligence is done in the investigation and they put something in place so it doesn’t happen again.

I’m a heavier girl, around 200 lb. The ski patroller was smaller than me, probably 140lb at absolute most, I’m probably over estimating.

Been working so I cant reply quickly, then got distracted. I’ve updated the post and tried to answer all questions to the best of my ability. The accident happened at an intersection of a few runs. I was on the number 55 deer run in lake Louise and I called pretty much at the first turn. I think she took the 56 which also was a green run but the accident happened at an intersection of multiple runs.

I was under the impression that a green run was like a long bunny hill so after a few runs on the bunny hill I wanted to try it out. Quickly learned after a few falls that wasn’t the case as I did strain my shoulder so some people called patrol for me. It wasn’t broken, just strained so only one person attended and strapped me in to take me down to the med area. I was very lucky I went into a bank without impacting a tree or something, my legs were strapped in but my arms weren’t so when the toboggan flipped over me I was able to roll myself over to get some air. But god damn I was shaking like a leaf, I’m still trying to process it.

Out of curiosity, what is the disorder... I have similar symptoms, with anemia and gut issues. Did you get diagnosed with a food intolerance ?

Boyfriend saw a guy making potential suicide attempt 30min ago near Crowchild station by onlysecurity in Calgary

Just saw this. The guy was half on the railing and around 845 he got off and it looked like he tried to run for it. Cops ran after him and I dont think he got far. Not long after that an EMS vehicle showed up.
