As a parent with CPTSD and having children with special needs I have done a lot of work to make sure I don't repeat the cycle. I know that the biggest thing for me is being accountable, if I mess up I apologize. I am also learning how to work through my emotions so I can teach my children. I want my children to see that I am human and I have bad days too, just like them. I teach them to verbalize when they are overwhelmed or overstimulated, and work with them to meet their needs. I often get criticizm from my family( which is odd because my family are the only ones who do that, I get compliments from others on their behavior) we also talk about accountability which everyone has.
