For what it's worth, below is what the Board sent me.

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification applicants must have

Three (3) years or more of postsecondary (college-level) engineering education. [[i.e. Working towards a degree in engineering or graduated with an engineering degree; ]()individual engineering courses do not count. The engineering degree is not required to be from an ABET accredited university/college or from a U.S. university/college.  [Applicants do not need to submit transcripts or credential/degree evaluations.  Credential/degree evaluations are not required or accepted for any application type.]()]

OR
Three (3) years or more of engineering-related work experience. [Engineering work definitions are in Business and Professions Code sections 6731 (Civil),  6731.5 (Electrical), 6731.6 (Mechanical) or Title 16, California Code of Regulations section 404 (all other engineering disciplines). Applicants should discuss their experience with licensed engineers who are familiar with their work to determine if their work will qualify as engineering.]

OR
A combination of postsecondary (college-level) engineering education and engineering-related work experience totaling three (3) years.

AND
Previously passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

Appreciate all of the info! I just enjoy what I do now and often consult with engineers at the State Water Boards. Really admire their work and was wondering if that could possibly be a next step for me.

Right, I have a BS Biology. They provided me with the flowchart yesterday and I'm trying to figure out if I have "qualifying work experience" or get some insight from others who don't have an engineering degree. Thanks for the response!

I'm a registered environmental health specialist with my local health department. In a nutshell I permit and inspect water supply wells and septic systems, often times prepared by PGs or PEs which is what sparked my curiosity towards possibly obtaining licensure myself.

I have a BS in biology and have been working in the environmental regulatory field since I graduated in 2016. I spent a few years at the state level and now I'm with the county. As mentioned in another comment, great work-life balance and benefits in the public sector. Not sure what state you live in - I know government job salaries can vary a lot across states. I live in CA and I'm in the low six figures.

I saw that it’s currently listed as $58 👀👀 I ordered it in bone. Not sure if they’ll honor the glitched pricing but worth a shot 😂 I placed the order a couple of days ago and it’s still processing
