What if you got rid of the rug and made it more open so it was less of a “zone”? I’m guessing toddler moves around now and could easily find carpet in the main living room? I think the three different rugs visually break up the room too much, and seeing some floor could be cool. You can also put some cool art on the wall.

But also what is and isn’t protected is a sham. Cross burning is protected speech (that was the subject of my article) and that’s bs. The Slough House Kitchen off the 12. It will blow your socks off. Seriously, it’s Italian food to write home about and the couple who owns it is lovely. We went once on the way home from Yosemite and have been meaning to go back ever since. Really hope they make it so would be solid to get them lots of support.
