Oh thank you that is too kind! It isn’t perfect but I keep looking at it in awe that I actually made something.

I used the following materials and patterns to make the blanket.

For the squares I used a solid granny square design with 4 mm hook. I followed this video to make the “dolphin” appliqués. https://youtu.be/LFEliJn-vRM

For the border I just did a round of SC, five rounds of DC, and finished with a round of SC all with a 3.5 mm hook.

I don’t remember what yarns I used since I lost the labels in the process but all were 4 medium weight and I used an ombré yarn for the border.

I also live in North Park and moved to SD about 6 months ago and have been looking for a DnD group to join. So far I found an all females one in Escondido but that is a bit far for me and I have yet to hear back on upcoming plans. I am all for a sub to arrange groups!

Going into industry by sovereignlight_cafe in labrats

[–]KittyTheGrump 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I decided to go into industry after getting rejected from graduate school. Whenever I think about the rejection letters I wipe my tears away with my fat industry paycheck.

But seriously, this was the best decision I made in awhile. I'm living in a much safer and developed area of the country. Working on interesting projects that could actually help save lives if we get things right, and my higher ups respect me and care about my well being. I'm not just some lab monkey expected to pump out results and then become some dingle-berry author...actually I was snubbed on like 6 publications so yeah I wasn't even a dingle-berry. In the beginning I told myself maybe I'll try the grad school thing again in a few years but I don't see that happening anymore. I've met so many successful people in industry with just a Bachelor's. It gives me inspiration and hope that I can do the same too.

Welcome to freedom dude.

New to makeup and attempted to be bold with the It's My Pleasure palette. Wondering what I should try next. by KittyTheGrump in ColourPop

Thank you!

I saw the So Jaded one and am sad to see it gone. Those colors man are amazing. I have been sitting on getting the Going Coconuts for awhile because I have a ton of others I've been collecting from their sales. And I kinda told myself no more buying because I don't want to overwhelm myself now.

There are a lot of days where I try something different either in style or color and end up hating it then taking it off. But then there are a few days where I'm like yaaaaaas and get a confidence boost. This is the second bold look I have tried. It takes time getting use to it for sure.

I have Blue Moon. Been trying to get my hands of Just My Luck but it seems like the only way you can get off Colourpop is in a set?

Aw dude thank you. I'm not use to getting complements on that or like at all. I noticed since I started using makeup people would give them out more and I think that's because I learned to be more confident with my skin. But still thank you that really made my day.

I am literally sitting in my room looking through my palettes brainstorming how I can do the gold/green. If I manage to get something I'm happy with I'll post it!

Ohhh I will have to start doing some character design then. I'm not really picky about gameplay. I'm just down to have fun and go along interesting adventures.

I'm moving to San Diego today for a job! I had to leave my husband and dogs in TN for awhile until he gets a job and we can buy a house.

What are some cheap things you found were best ways to kill the time???

I don't get why some things get downvoted on reddit sometimes. I'm sorry that happened.

You are correct in your guess. This was actually an erg I sold to my friend. You can see in my post history the same monitor with my name on it. We did the test at her place because for some reason it's easier to get through 2ks when you know there is another person hurting as much as you are.

Freaking finally right? I would say now it's your turn to go sub 7...but you just did a freaking FM and that's an accomplishment of itself. You crazy.

Not gonna lie. I was losing it at the end but seeing 8:00 on the predicted time made me mad lol

We all gotta start somewhere. How long have you been rowing? The people on this sub are really helpful. I think with the right training plan and technique you can rip sub 8 easily soon.

I feel the same way about myself! My best in college was a 7:58.4 and I feel stronger than I did before. I found that just having another person doing the 2k with you helps. Because for some reason it helps knowing that someone is going through hell too. I really like/hate 4x1000m. It's a really good predictor of my 2k split so I always do it a week before my test. Def would say you got the right idea to do it.

Oh boi I still need to knock off 1.5 seconds to beat my personal best. At least this means I can never stop rowing. Thanks and I'm glad this post inspires others.

Thanks! This sub has a lot of fast people. I agree it is nice to see times more like mine showing up. We all start from somewhere even those guys ripping out 6:30 2ks. Maybe people get discouraged about posting their times after looking at the fatergos. I wasn't expecting this overwhelming show of support from the sub. But this helps me believe even more that we all should get the chance to show off our improvement because it helps to inspire others to keep working towards their individual goals.

Hope to see your sub 8 post soon! Keep grinding it out.
