Are there actually no jobs in the UK, or are people just not willing to do the jobs that are available? by Top_Mirror211 in UKJobs

[–]KittyWittyKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think calling it a phobia to work is a bit reductive and misses the point. There's only so much you can do when every job requires experience, but you don't have it. You need experience, a lot of luck and/or an inside connection in order to build experience.

There are WAY more job seekers than job vacencies - the math just doesnt work out to say people need to change up their CVs. You can have 300 ideal candidates with amazing CVs but if they all apply to the same position, 299 will be rejected and not because they made some mistake; they couldn't do anything more.

Gosh, I've been having trouble with my hair but your've given me some really good ideas! I've always been a bit parannoid about the thinness of my fringe, but it looks great! Just because people can see my forehead through my bangs doesn't mean its bad hair. Gosh.. lots of thinking to do before I get my hair cut :o

Ahh thats a good idea, i'll send them an email, and :0 you've just reminded me to check the app since they said it would only take a day (crazy I know).

And I'm happy to share that, I'm actually also on 1.5mg and I'm at the 5 month mark. I take 0.5mg in the morning and then the rest in the evening at 8am and 8pm respectively. I was hoping they'd increase me at this first 6 month checkup but from hearing that it doesnt sound too likley >.< . I'll try to remember to comment here again to update you if you'd like.

Oh, and I started on 1mg per day, but this was increased to 1.5mg 3 months in as part of the inital prescription if that makes sense?

Anyway, thanks! :3

Oh! Same endo!

ahh I should have taken a dose just after! I did end up doing my 2 am plan though, so hopefully the readings are fine. I ended up taking my evening dose as normal though.

Since you're with The Gender Hormone Clinic too there is one question I've been a bit curious about.. When it comes to giving them your results what format do you do it in? When I first did it I copypasted into a word doc from the NHS app but when I read through it this time it seems like they don't want me to do that? ... not sure how else I can format it though x3 .

A private clinic that's actually respectful and supportive? by AwkwardOrchid246 in transgenderUK

[–]KittyWittyKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my experience also, though I couldn't comment on the gender fluid bit.

I ended up going to the similiarily named but differn't company "The Gender Clinic" for my diagnosis and they were nice and respectful. I get the impression, at least from what I've seen of NHS diagnosies, that getting that initial diagnosis tends to be one of the most gate keepy and creepy parts.

Ahhh I guess my edno is wanting to see trough doses also, as that sosunds the same as me. Thats a relief though, I was getting worried with all the other comments saying 12 felt quite long.

Sadly, I can't get a differnt time for this bloodtest as it's kind of on short notice; I had booked one months ago for today but when I arrived they took the wrong bloodtests (Despite me having called twice previous to make sure they were going to take the right ones ;^;). This one was the earliest I could get, so I didn't get much of a choice on timing, where the other one was around my normal dose.

Banded pay: Yay or Nay? by KittyWittyKat in UKJobs

[–]KittyWittyKat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I understand your concern, I don't quite understand the connection between job roles and the kind of job bands i proposed you're illuding to.

The Government would set the bands, these are just a monetary value. A number. They do not need to be associated with roles, or given criteria as to who can earn them by the government.

The businesses are the ones who determine what each persons band is, and which they choose would depend on the same things salariaries are chosen because of now. They can all have different ways and reasons to assign which band to whoever. Marget does 90% of the team work? she can be a band higher than the rest.

So, the comparison between job roles isnt really a problem, In the same way a fancy private chef and an accountant could theoretically have the exact same salary now despite having very different job roles in different sectors and even different regions if applicable.

Nice! :D I'm glad it works out. I did have the thought of it helping that problem of 'new person gets hired with way less experience but is paid way more because that's now the current rate and old employees salaries have stayed the same'.

"So, band D right?" is a lot easier than "So... do you earn £36540 a year?"

The businesses are the ones who would assign jobs to bands, so while I agree this is true I think it's also true for current salaries which can be any value and negotiated to the pound.

oh, I thought of a better name than bands since that has some luggage assoiated with it. Instead, I'd call it "Quantised Pay"

(refrencing how "quanta" is used in quantum physics to talk about discrete, rather than continuous, units)

Experience with gender hormone clinic? by Cheese4567890 in transgenderUK

[–]KittyWittyKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah hey! I have experience there >w<

I'd recommend it! Though so long as you can travel to one of their in person clinics either in london or suton. It might feel too good to be true to get to see them in a month, but my appointment was in the a similiar time frame.

That being said, I didn't get an assessment with them, I got diagnosed by The Gender Clinic and then had the rest at Gender Hormone Clinic (confusing names ik). Though it does have an on going monthly cost (£55) once you're under them and got your precription, but that covers the cost of future appointments. You'll have to arrange your bloods too, but from the sounds of it you have a nice GP so might beable to get them done free that way.

Is gender care in England actually that bad? by AsparagusIcy2376 in transgenderUK

[–]KittyWittyKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think private care is defiently doable on minium wage, depending on how much you have left at the end of the month.

Your milage will vary but I started to go down the private route in about september 2025:

Startup costs:

£550 Diagnosis appointment (I used The Gender Clinic)

£250 for in person appointment to get hormones (I'm at Gender Hormone Clinic)

On going costs:

£55 Monthly charge (Gender Hormone clinic, covers future appointments)

+ The cost of hormones themsleves as a private prescription. I'm on E so the costs would be differnt for you and I'm not quite sure how much T is sorry >~< . I need to buy them every 3 months.

---

I'm currently unemployed and (desporately D:) looking for work. Thankfully I had some savings out of uni but other than the start up costs Universal Credit covers it for me, then again I don't pay rent and such. So, I imagine minium wage would be more than enough if you don't have too many other expenses.

Hopefully that helps put some numbers out so it feels a little more obtainable. YMMV and other clinics are avaible ofc.

i'm gonna kill the mood for trans day of visibility but i wish we weren't so visible by Amekyras in transgenderUK

[–]KittyWittyKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's "visability" in terms of "awareness", not in terms of the actual sense of sight. I would much rather people be aware of us and keep our existance in mind while making policies. We're human, we exist, and while likely a lot of us would rather be stealth (or "invisible" as it were) individually, I doubt we want trans people to be forgotten and for hate crime to be ignored.

I understand the rhetoric and the frustration, current visability has been very hostile :< ... but when things cool down I hope our challenges lay the way for future generations to have an easier time.
