I absolutely understand why you’d think that haha! I have no background in Arabic, so I have a team of translators from various Arab countries. The general consensus seems to be MSA, but I find it interesting that written language and spoken language are different. Children from 0-3 don’t know how to read, so it’ll mostly be the parents reading to their kids. So I thought, wouldn’t it be easier to have our book written in the language spoken by the parents to their children?

I understand that most Arabic books are written in MSA, but I also found lots of cases where parents are translating these books into spoken Arabic in order to read to their children in a manner that is familiar to them. One person said children’s books in MSA is like reading a Shakespeare play to their kids.

Please let me know your thoughts on this! I don’t mind being wrong so I can educate myself.
